IT'S THE TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE TERROR ATTACKS IN ISRAEL And I don't normally post graphic content on this page but the video below covers the atrocities committed by Hamas two years ago when they launched an attack against Israel by killing over 1,200 people while live streaming what they were doing for the world to see. I thought about making the entire blog just videos of Hamas doing horrible things, like driving around with the dead body of a young woman they killed, or showing you the dead bodies of young people slaughtered in what they thought was a safe room. But I find that stuff disturbing on a deep level so I'll put it so you have to click the links to see it. And for those of you "BUT THE JEWS" folks, there are Hamas celebrations all over the country, I'm sure you can find one. Maybe you can find a young woman to rape to really feel like part of the scene. I'm being very, very sarcastic here, and because I'm speaking to people who celebrate murderous depravity I need to make sure they know it's sarcasm. Israel just wants it hostages back.

THE SUPREME COURT IS HEARING COLORADO'S FORCED GENDER AFFIRMATION CASE It's been called elsewhere the "conversion therapy ban" but let's be real. When you tell counselors and therapists that they aren't allowed to suggest that maybe someone gender dysphoria can be helped to become comfortable with their born gender, that is forced gender affirming care. And in the case of kids it is disastrous. Now the Supreme Court is hearing a challenge to the law and I hope they bounce it into the stratosphere.

AURORA'S APPROACH TO HOMELESSNESS IS JUST GETTING STARTED And this is a great article on how things are going so far. Instead of embracing the failed Housing First model, Aurora is all about accountability and if you read this story you begin to see the disconnect between what the homeless people are saying and what is actually happening. Complaining about not getting services when there are literally people all over the place trying to get you services? That seems like a shirk of personal responsibility to me. When one woman says you can't get services unless you are Court connected what she's saying is she wants things with zero responsibility attached. Those days are over in Aurora.

THE USELESS 311 PROGRAM IS CUTTING ITS HOURS So now you will have less time to make a complaint about that homeless camp on your street. But don't worry, they weren't responding to the calls anyway, so does it really matter if they shorten the hours? Click through to that first story to see how bad the 311 service really is, and they haven't improved ANYTHING since a similar audit in 2012 found the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. Only in government can something be allowed to fail so spectacularly and yet it still exists.

THIS STORY ON MILITARY STANDARDS IS UNNECESSARY Because it seems designed to imply (at least with the headline) that the standards touted by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth are somehow exclusionary for women in the military. He said nothing of the sort, he said they needed to be high and women can reach them. So why are we interviewing two women who apparently succeeded in meeting those standards before now? Or were the standards lowered for them and we didn't get that in the article? I'm not sure why this is even a story.

CU UPS SECURITY AFTER NASTY CHANTS And good for them for taking this so seriously, though I wonder if some of this stuff was already in the works because this seem super quick to make a plan of this magnitude. Sucks that CU students can't behave, but now there will be plainclothes cops in their midst to tamp down the worst of their instincts.

SURE THEY CAN GET IN, BUT ARE THEY COLLEGE READY? When you look at this story from Aurora Public Schools and CU-Denver it's heartwarming, amiright? CU-Denver is GUARANTEEING acceptance to students from Aurora Public schools that have at least a 3.0 weighted GPA in their Junior year. How great! But then look at Aurora Public Schools CMAS scores this year:

Are these kids college ready? I would think not. With grade inflation rampant at high schools trying to boost their graduation numbers a B average from this district doesn't mean much to me. What concerns me about this is these are the students most likely to take on student debt and then NOT get a college degree. Trust me I've been there and that sucks. I have reservations about this well intended program.

BALL ARENA GOT SHAMED INTO LOWERING PRICES and credit the news media for this one. It was recently discovered that food and beverage prices were the HIGHEST at Ball Arena, and now arena management has announced reduced prices on some staples like hot dogs, pretzels and even draft beer! I don't care why they did it, I just appreciate getting gouged a bit less now. We all owe Steve Staeger and 9 News a big thank you for this one.
