CDC's New Vaccine Recommendations Raise Some Concerns
October 7, 2025
Maybe you’ve been thinking or talking about it. Seems as if more people are catching COVID. There were more cases reported during the summer and the trend appears to be continuing now here in the Fall heading into the traditional cold and flu season.
Maybe you’re like what appears to be a growing number of people who find themselves avoiding being in large crowds or huddled closely together at events or at school or church.
This is all happening as the CDC issues its official guidance now on vaccines that public health officials here in San Diego and elsewhere are saying can be confusing and controversial.
The CDC guidelines call for you to talk to a doctor or some other health care provider about the risks and benefits of getting vaccinated before getting a shot.
And the new recommendations have also raised questions about whether vaccinations will be covered by private and government health insurance without copayments which can be more than you think.
Public health officials and doctors do recommend getting vaccinated, especially if you’re older, or on immune suppressed medication or you live with people who are who could get COVID or the flu if you do.
Something to seriously think about as we head toward the holidays and winter season.
