Professor Charged With Violent Felonies For ICE Facility Riots

A University of Chicago professor has been charged with violent felonies in relation to riots at a nearby ICE facility, the Cook County Sheriff's Office confirmed to FOX News on Monday (October 6).

Eman Abdelhadi, who serves as an associate professor within the school's Department of Comparative Human Development, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a government employee, a Class 3 felony; and two counts of resisting/obstruction peace, a Class A misdemeanor and is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday (October 7). Protesters have held demonstrations for weeks outside the ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, which reportedly included blocking vehicles from exiting and getting into violent confrontations with authorities.

Abdelhadi shared photos from the rally last Friday (October 3), claiming state troopers were "enforcing [President Donald] Trump's agenda of terrorizing our community with abductions" and thanked Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker for his attempted pushback to the president sending National Guard troops to federally enforce Chicago's streets.

Abdelhadi had previously garnered attention for bashing her employer during the 'Socialism 2025' event in Chicago in July.

“F**k the University of Chicago, it’s evil, you know it’s a colonial landlord. Like, why would I put any of my political energy into this space? I kind of had a little bit of disdain for people who spent their time doing that,” she said while addressing attendees at the time.
