10/8/25 Blog: Will Hamas Take The Trump Deal Or Choose Death?

October 8, 2025

WHAT A GLORIOUS DAY TO TALK WEATHER with Fox 31 Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser. He joins at 12:30 so get your weather questions ready!

WHATEVER WILL HAMAS DO? Negotiations between Hamas and the World are going on now and this time it's a bit different. No one breaks it down like the Foundation for Defense of Democracy's Cliff May and he does so in this column for the Washington Times. He joins me at 2:30 to discuss. Columnist Cal Thomas writes here that Hamas isn't trustworthy enough for anything less than total capitulation of all the Trump's 20 points and he's right.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MAKE CRIME EASIER is that you get MORE CRIME. This is holding true in Colorado and our favorite numbers nerd Mike O'Donnell writes about it here for the Rocky Mountain Voice. Check this out:

In relative terms, overlaying population data on top of the total FBI counts, violent crimes across the entire United States decreased 27% from 479.5 crimes per 100,000 in 2001 to 349.3 per 100,000 in 2024, and property crimes decreased 51% from 3441.0 per 100,000 in 2001 to 1703.9 per 100,000 in 2024.
Although in Colorado’s case, violent crime rates bucked the national trend and INCREASED by a whopping 52% from 315.5 violent crimes per 100,000 in 2001 to 479.5 per 100,000 in 2024.

That's right! Our crime is going UP. How could that happen? When you make crime easier, as we have repeatedly under garbage "criminal justice reform" bills you get more of it. I'm trying to get Mike on now to discuss.

Y'ALL, WE'VE GOT TO SAVE DOLLY It's weird how people you don't know feel like they are your best friend and I don't know if there are many stars who fall into that category for pretty much everyone. If there is one, it's got to be Dolly Parton and she's not feeling her best right now according to her sister. Dolly is 79, recently lost her husband of 62 years Carl Dean and I'm worried about her. Say a prayer if you've got a minute. She is truly a national treasure on so, so many levels.

BLATANT VIEWPOINT DISCRIMINATION That's what Justice Samuel Alito says Colorado's ban on conversion therapy looked like to him. It did not go well for Colorado at the Supreme Court yesterday as the justices, even the liberal ones, seemed to give our ban on helping people come to terms with their own gender the hairy eyeball. They seemed uniformly skeptical of Colorado's claims that equated talk therapy with the practice of medicine. Only the in-over-her-head Ketanji Jackson Brown seemed moved at all by Colorado's stupid arguments. I hope this is a unanimous decision against Colorado. Again.

HEY DENVER, HERE'S YOUR SCHOOL BOARD DEBATE And boy howdy does this race MATTER. Here is the debate you didn't see last night, so while you're in your car today put it on and just listen so you can make educated choices, k? Read about it here, but if you elect more candidates who don't recognize what a bad job Alex Marrero is doing Denver students are screwed. Again.

YES, ORGANIZATIONS CAN BE CITIZENS This is sort of inside baseball but the Colorado Supreme Court just decided that an organization has the same rights as a single person when it comes to getting their attorneys fees back when they challenge violations to Colorado Open Meetings rules. This is good news, as it makes sense in this context, but it has put Chief Justice Monica Marquez on my radar because of this line in the story:

The case marks the sixth time Márquez has dissented since the Supreme Court began its 2025-2026 term last month. She has now dissented more often than she has been in the majority.

Now considering how many times the Colorado Supreme Court has been overturned at the US Supreme Court this may be a good thing. When I have time I'll do a deeper dive into what she's dissenting on to form an opinion.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS IS GETTING SPEED CAMERAS You've been warned. They realized they are missing out on the speed trap money river so they have added them now while mumbling something about safety or some such crap. I especially love this part, which says, "hey don't fight it, it's really no big deal, just give us your money" more than this line:

Violations are not reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles, and insurance companies will not be made aware of them.

Sure, safety. It's about safety. Uh-huh.

MORE ON THAT HARVARD POLL THAT'S SUPER FUN You know what Americans can agree upon wholeheartedly? We love blowing up drug dealers. That's just one of the juicy things to come out of a new Harvard Poll I talked about a bit yesterday. Check out a fun story on what we love and what we don't and then note that the Democrats are literally on the wrong side of every single issue almost. This has to be disheartening for a political party that is struggling to figure out their identity when the only identity they've cultivated is the identity driving all the things voters love. We shall go through some of this today. It seems if you voted for Trump, you're on the right side of pretty much every issue right now.

One of the big issues from this poll is here:

And this is what Democrats have to show for it:

And this.

And of course we all know about Virginia Attorney General Candidate Jay Jones saying he'd use two bullets for his political enemies. The problem is for Democrats is that dropping the F bomb to show how tough they are isn't working, and people are starting to wise up to the chaos they constantly sow and perhaps they will be held accountable for that. Perhaps.

REP. BOB MARSHALL IS BEATABLE IN DOUGLAS COUNTY And this column lays out the record of Marshall and the many ways it is hopelessly out of step with Douglas County voters. Read it here.

THAT TIME BILL CLINTON EXPLAINED THAT HAMAS HIDES AMONG CITIZENS

EN Z ISN'T READY FOR THE WORKPLACE And that isn't me speculating, it's the scary results of a survey of hiring managers across the country. Read it here, but I swear there is opportunity here. If I were a Gen Zer trying to enter the workplace, my entire cover letter would be about how I differ from my peers with concrete examples of why.

HOW CHINA CAN TAKE TAIWAN USING THE GREEN ENERGY SCAM This is a long article about how long Taiwan could outlast a Chinese blockade on their energy supplies. It's not long because they rely on Liquified Natural Gas and Oil and coal imports to run their energy sector. But this part at the end of the story caught my eye:

Nuclear power accounted for as much as 52% of Taiwan’s electricity in the mid-1980s. But a popular campaign driven by safety fears and backed by the current ruling party led to the shutdown of all of the island’s reactors. The last operating plant was taken offline in May.

Interesting that just as Taiwan takes their last nuclear power plant, for which nothing has to be imported to make power, offline China starts saber rattling in earnest. It's almost like it was part of the plan all along.

IT'S EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN DENVER But almost as expensive to live in Colorado Springs. Both landed on the dubious list of most expensive places to live comfortably.

HARVARD DEGREES ARE CRAP NOW At least that's my takeaway from this story about grade inflation at Harvard. Does this sound like rigorous study one would expect from a university that costs over 80 grand a year to attend. Read this:

The Times wrote, "But once they get in, many of its students skip class and fail to do the reading… When they do show up for class, they are focused on their devices, and are reluctant to speak out. Sometimes it is because they are afraid of sharing ideas that others will disagree with. But often, they have not read enough of the homework to make a meaningful contribution."
"Rampant grade inflation allows them to coast through anyway," the report concluded.

Sounds like a ripoff to me.

GRETA THUNBERG'S SCOLDY MASK SLIPS And to me it certainly looks here like she loves being called a hero, doesn't she? Watch below or click here.

@sbsnews_au

Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg was welcomed by a cheering crowd after being released from Israeli detention, along with hundreds of other activists who were captured following an attempt to bring aid to Gaza through the Global Sumud flotilla mission. Thunberg was allegedly shoved and forced to wear an Israeli flag in prison, according to Global Sumud Flotilla activists, while other campaigners had their clean food, water and medication withheld. The 22-year-old said she could "talk for a very, very long time about our mistreatment and abuses in our imprisonment, trust me, but that is not the story". "What happened here was that Israel, while continuing to worsen and escalate their genocide and mass destruction with genocidal intent, attempting to erase an entire population, an entire nation in front of our very eyes, they once again violated international law by preventing humanitarian aid from getting into Gaza while people are being starved." Israel, which rejects accusations that it is carrying out genocide in Gaza says reports of hunger there are exaggerated, has dismissed the flotilla as a publicity stunt benefiting Hamas. It had previously detained Thunberg at sea in a similar attempt to breach the blockade in June. Israeli authorities also issued a statement, accompanied by photos of Thunberg at the airport, saying all participants' legal rights had been upheld and the only violence involved an activist who bit a female medic at Israel's Ketziot prison. Meanwhile, seven Australians detained in Israel after the Israeli military intercepted the flotilla didn't appear to be among those deported to Greece. SBS News has contacted DFAT for comment. NOPE, STILL DON'T CARE ABOUT LEBRON JAMES And any decision he's going to make. He punked the world by teasing a "second decision" (I have no idea what the first one was) so he can sell booze. Who cares. For real. Who cares.

THIS IS WHY I'M INVESTING IN SMALL MODULAR REACTOR COMPANIES And don't take investment advice from me because I'm not a professional but how are they going to find the power for these data centers? I'm betting on small nuclear reactors.

JON STEWART CAN SUCK IT Because not ONCE did he show any concern for the Republicans when the Democrats were running roughshod over everything Republican voters cared about. He can suck it. 1,000 times.

JIMMY KIMMEL'S BOOM WAS SHORTER THAN A GOOD FART I am super proud of that headline, by the way. His ratings boomed after his suspension and I thought it would take a month or so for his ratings to sink back to their ridiculously low levels but boy was I wrong. He lost 71% of that audience in one week. Check this out:

On Thursday, October 2, Jimmy Kimmel Live! averaged just 1.9 million total viewers, down from the 6.5 million who tuned in for his hotly anticipated comeback.
Among the coveted 25-54 demographic, the hemorrhage was even worse with Kimmel drawing only 265,000 viewers, an 85% nosedive from the 1.7 million he had scored just days earlier.

Obviously he didn't do his best and funniest most free speechy stuff ever to keep that audience. Or maybe now the world knows he's just not good at his job. And now ABC is stuck with him. Good, they deserve it.
