Sno Pac Foods, a Minnesota-based supplier, has issued a recall for its organic spinach products after tests revealed contamination with listeria monocytogenes. The recall includes Del Mar 35-pound Bulk Organic Frozen Spinach and Sno Pac 10-ounce Organic Frozen Cut Spinach, which were distributed nationwide. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall after a bulk case from Sno Pac's supplier tested positive for the bacteria.

The affected products were sold in retail stores and through distributors, though specific retailers were not disclosed. Some regional chains, such as Hy-Vee, Fresh Thyme, and Living Fresh Market, may have carried the recalled spinach. The recall affects products with specific lot codes and expiration dates, which can be found on the FDA website.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall, but listeria can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The FDA advises consumers to discard the spinach or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Sno Pac Foods has suspended production of its spinach products while investigating the source of the contamination. For questions about the recall, consumers can contact Sno Pac Foods at (507) 725-5281, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT.
