10/10/25 Blog: It's An Ask Me Anything Kind Of Day

October 10, 2025

IT'S AN ASK ME ANYTHING SORT OF DAY Because there isn't one GIANT story I'd rather hear from you guys about stuff. You can choose from stuff below if you'd like.

WE ARE GIVING AWAY PAUL MCCARTNEY TICKETS! You read that right, somehow, some way we are going to give away a pair of tickets to see Sir Paul McCartney tomorrow night at Coors Field. I'm guessing there may be singing involved in this one. If you're already going, read here about what to expect. If you're taking the train there, I'd plan on Ubering or Lyfting home that night.

TRUMP GETS SNUBBED BY THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE And if you ever wanted to know how useless this award it this should do it. On the same day that Israel announces a cease fire and a withdrawal back to predetermined borders within Gaza the Nobel committee announced that the leader of the Venezuelan opposition got the peace prize. Not saying that she isn't brave and all that, but really? They freaking gave Obama the award for LITERALLY DOING NOTHING. I think Trump and his supporters are right to be salty about this one but in genuinely says the Nobel committee doesn't REALLY care about what you actually do. I may not love everything he does but his foreign policy has been next level.

THE ACLU IS SUING HIM. AGAIN. Lawsuits, lawsuits everywhere and not a drop to drink. The ACLU has launched another lawsuit against the Trump administration over the arrests of illegal immigrants in Colorado. They say the administration is not following the law by picking up people suspected of ONLY being here illegally. You can read about this here, but I'm not sure where the truth lies so I'm not able to comment much. Especially as the ICE story in Chicago of being boxed in by protesters is falling apart and appears to show an ICE agent opening fire on a woman who was trying to interrupt ICE work there. Again, not sure where the truth lies there either. Another Chicago judge has put limits on what sorts of non-lethal crowd control methods after a pastor was shot in the head by pepper balls while outside an ICE facility praying. Not a good look here. The more stories like these that make their way out the harder it is for ICE to do the very difficult task they have been given. I don't know if there is an easy way here.

COLORADO COUNTIES PUSHBACK AGAINST UNFUNDED MANDATES And good for them. It all started when Mesa County Commissioner Bobbie Daniel started looking at how much money Mesa County was being forced to spend on unfunded state mandates. She then leaned into a 1991 law that states that when the State of Colorado increases the level of service required by law, it must also provide adequate funding. If it fails to do so, counties may legally consider those mandates optional. The state hasn't been doing that. So now, new laws like the new concealed carry law, have shoved lots of spending back onto counties and more than one county is just saying NO. Read more here but I'm going to get Bobbi on the show soon to discuss it.

WE'VE GOT THREE NEW HOMELESS HOTEL PROVIDERS After the Salvation Army bowed out of managing the various properties three new providers have stepped up to take over. Read about it here, but I'm not sure we will get a different results when you require nothing of the mentally ill addicts that are housed there.

CLEAR CREEK HAD A PARKING TICKET BOOM And I don't blame them for raking in over 11 grand from people who suck at parking. They put up signs, they warned people and yet, people still parking like jackholes on Guanella Pass.

DENVER SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS WANT TO HANDICAP THE NEXT BOARD And they've already done it by making it damn near impossible to fire the failing superintendent, and now they want to monkey around with how his evaluations are done. This board is godawful and needs to be replaced in this election cycle.

A FIRE IN NEDERLAND AFFECTS SO MANY A big shopping center in Nederland is no more and this is lovely story about the folks who lost their livelihoods.

THE COMPETENCY PROBLEM IS LONG STANDING IN COLORADO And though this story from CBS Denver talks to some of the players no one seems to be talking about committing the kind of dollars needed to make the facilities we need to house dangerous people who have been accused of crimes. That seems to me to be the real issue here. If we had those facilities this would be a non story. Read it here.

IS BIGAMY THE DUMBEST CRIME? I have no clue how a dude working for the CBI ended up a bigamist. Maybe he just forgot he was married when he married someone else, maybe it's a sister wife thing, I have no clue, but is this the dumbest crime to be charged with? Meaning how can you be so stupid? What crimes are dumber? Real question.

DISNEYLAND'S HAUNTED MANSION CLAIMS A VICTIM A woman in her 60s died after riding the most innocuous ride at Disneyland, The Haunted Mansion ride. That's the ride you go on at Disneyworld when it's the middle of the day because it's so damn hot. No word on if seeing a ghost in her car with her at the end of the ride did her in. I shouldn't make fun, but this is a terrible way to go in the grand scheme of things.

AURORA HAS A BIG FAT BALLOT THIS YEAR And Savana Kascak writes about what you're going to be voting on here.

AH, THE LIFE OF POLITICOS This is just something interesting. Rep. Brittany Petterson has endorsed Micheal Bennet, which in and of itself isn't a huge shock until you realize her husband Ian Silverii is working for Phil Weiser's campaign. Awkward.

SEC OF WAR IS FINALLY FIXING THE BARRACKS Some of the housing conditions on our military bases are HORRIBLE. Like way worse than prison bad. And now Sec of War Pete Hegseth has launched a task force to do something about it. If he can actually pull this off he will be a hero to the youngest members of our fighting forces who have to live there.

WHAT TAX BRACKET WILL YOU BE IN THIS YEAR? The IRS released the new tax brackets for this year and you can find them here.

LOCAL RESTAURANTS ARE NOW PART OF BALL ARENA As they have actually listened to fans who said stuff was too expensive and too boring. If you're headed to the Avs game this weekend check out what's waiting for you here.

WILL AI KILL US OR FREE US? This is a good story on the fact that the "consensus" on what AI really means simply doesn't exist, even from the men who have been instrumental in its development. It also talks about the role of "jailbreakers" who job it is to push the limits of AI so that AI labs can figure out how to put governors in place to prevent AI from being prompted into mischief. It's very interesting.

HEDGE FUND MANAGERS ARE WARNING AGAINST CIVIL WAR Ray Dalio is the founder of the hedge fund Bridgewater Associates and one of the guys that people listen to when it comes to money. He is now sounding the alarm about two things: debt and civil strife. He's not alone. JP Morgan Chase head Jamie Dimon says there is a 30% chance of a stock market crash in the next two years. We should probably pay attention but more importantly, politicians should pay attention. I asked my assistant Chat to do an analysis of how often Mr. Dimon was right and he tends to be a bit pessimistic in his big predictions but he's often right about the trajectory of things, even if he overstates them. Dalio is the same. So take this all with a grain of salt but they are not wrong about the structural issues that must be addressed.

ITALY TRIES TO FORCE ASSIMILATION FROM MUSLIMS With laws that directly go after what PM Georgia Meloni calls Islamic Separatism. The new law will ban the wearing of burqas in public and issue fines for covering faces, along with banning religiously based practices like virginity tests for potential brides. The fact that one needs to ban "virginity tests" tells me how incompatible with Western values Islam in Italy is. I wonder if this will fly over here? I doubt it because of the 1st Amendment protections people here enjoy.

WEISS'S FIRST MOVE AT CBS IS A BANGER I love this so much. This is what happens when fresh blood is injected into a newsroom. Read this from Semafor:

During CBS News’ editorial meeting on Thursday, Weiss said the network should lean heavily into the news of a major hostage and prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas, per two people who were in attendance. Weiss proposed an idea: a roundtable panel with former secretaries of state Hillary Clinton, Mike Pompeo, and Antony Blinken.
She said she was happy to use her contacts to book the panel herself and began texting sources during the meeting to try and set it up. Her idea was met with some initial skepticism among CBS News staff; Clinton, Pompeo, and Blinken are not easy guest bookings. And the network does not typically run roundtable political discussion panels.
Still, by Thursday afternoon, the three panelists had initially agreed to sit down with the network, four people with knowledge confirmed to Semafor. The likely interview will be hosted by Norah O’Donnell, the former CBS Evening News anchor, and is expected to air in segments over several days.
Yes, this is what I want. I want to hear from EREBODY. I will 100% watch this, either live or the next day online. Well done. And of course the newsroom gasped in horror. This part made me lol for real:
But Weiss will have to continue to work to earn the trust of her CBS News colleagues, particularly around issues where her very public personal views run up against a nonpartisan news broadcast.

Ha. They still think they were running a non partisan news broadcast. If they were, she wouldn't be there.

THERE WAS A DEBATE IN VIRGINIA LAST NIGHT And the Democrat candidate for Governor Abigail Spanberger refused to not endorse her Attorney General candidate. Watch as she blames the opposition for sitting on the text messages Jay Jones sent calling for murder. She can't even condemn violence. Good for the moderator for keeping after her. I want to talk about the advice politicians are getting about not answering questions.

IS THIS A SOLUTION TO THE EDUCATION CRISIS? Watch this.

IRONMAN AND SPIDERMAN TEAM UP TO...SELL BEVERAGES? I actually like that Robert Downey, Jr. and Tom Holland have a coffee and non alcoholic beer brand respectively. Now they've teamed up to create crossovers that work together if you want beer tasting coffee or coffee tasting booze free beer. Read it here.

FINDING THE RIGHT MAN MAKES A STRONG WOMAN A TRAD WIFE This story about Taylor Swift being labeled a "trad wife" because she's writing songs about having kids and basketball hoops in the driveway. Okay. The reality is that when a strong woman finds a strong man who makes her feel safe and taken care of those things pop into the forefront. Trust me on this.

A JUDGE TOSSES DRAKE'S WHINY LAWSUIT Against fellow performer Kendrick Lamar. Lamar's diss track song "Not Like Us" was declared "opinion" by the judge who dismissed the case outright. Too bad, Drake.

THE CEASE FIRE IN GAZA IS UNDERWAY And if Hamas follows the timeline the hostages should be released on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Again, I'll believe it when I see it. A friend who has good intel told me that we may see a civil war break out in Gaza between Hamas and the ethnic tribes in Gaza. Oh, and Hamas is still active and fighting in the West Bank, don't forget that.

COSTCO IS TRYING TO MAKE ME FAT Guys, the giant Costco cookie is DELICIOUS. I've allowed myself to have part of one, just to taste it, and I wish I hadn't because it's THAT GOOD. And now Costco is coming for my waistline again with a new salted caramel brownie sundae. WTF, Costco, are you trying to kill me?
