Plans For Toll Road Coming Together
(Orlando, FL) -- Plans are coming together on what one official calls a really critical project. The Central Florida Expressway Authority voted Thursday to build a toll road between SR 417 and Orlando Sanford International Airport. The project is expected to generate over 48-million dollars over 40 years. The two-lane road has been discussed for years, and board member Christopher Maier tells the Orlando Sentinel it's now or never.
Man Arrested For Kidnapping In Pinellas County
(Clearwater, FL)-- A teenager is safe after she was apparently kidnapped in Pinellas County. Clearwater Police arrested Eric Butler on Friday for allegedly taking the 15-year-old against her will. A witness reported seeing the 43-year-old grab her on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. The witness called police and followed the man and the girl to Glen Oaks Park where she was able to get away, and Butler was taken into custody. News Channel 8 reports he's facing charges that include kidnapping and drug possession.
Meal Served At The Longest Table In Tallahassee
(Tallahassee, FL)-- A Big Bend tradition on hold since the pandemic is back. Hundreds gathered in Tallahassee yesterday to share a meal at The Longest Table. Five local restaurants provided a free meal and a chance to meet strangers and maybe come away with new friends. The Longest Table started ten years ago, and it was an annual event until 2019 when COVID hit. Mayor John Dailey is glad to see it's back. He tells WCTV it's something that makes Tallahassee special.
Three GA City Officials Arrested For Putting Tracking Device On Police Chief Car
(Enigma, GA) -- Three top officials from a town in southern Georgia are sitting in the local jail after allegedly putting a tracking device on the police chief's cruiser. Police Chief Tony Perkins of the town Enigma says Acting Mayor Doug Webb, Councilman Ronald Harbin and City Clerk Latasha Luke are being accused of manipulating another person to implement the tracking device. The three officials are facing stalking, eavesdropping and other related charges after Perkins found the tracking device a few weeks ago while washing his car. All three suspects are being held without bond.
