Jill Scott, DJ PREMIER & More Artists React To The Late D'Angelo's Death

Numerous artists and fans of D'Angelo are flocking to social media to pay homage to the late R&B singer.
On Tuesday, October 14, the family of D'Angelo, born Michael Archer, confirmed he passed away following a private battle with cancer. He was 51. "We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind," the statement said. Soon after his death was announced, a slew of artists, especially those who worked with him, mourned D'Angelo's death online.

DJ PREMIER teamed up with D'Angelo for his 2000 track "Devil's Pie." The song appeared on the singer's second studio album, Voodoo, alongside other notable hits like"Untitled (How Does It Feel)," "Left & Right" featuring Method Man & Redman, and more. It was the follow-up to his iconic debut LP, Brown Sugar. His first album spent over a year on the Billboard 200 chart and was nominated for numerous Grammy awards, including Best R&B Album. It went platinum within a year of its release.
Other younger artists, like Tyler, The Creator and Chuck Inglish, also paid homage to D'Angelo. Tyler posted a photo of the late singer to his X account while Chuck said he was "the greatest to ever do it."

D'Angelo never married, but he leaves behind three children. He and the late Angie Stone welcomed a son in 1998. He had two other children, a daughter born in 1999 and a son born in 2010. May he rest in peace.
