Palm Bay Official Could Get Censured For Social Media Posts

(Palm Bay, FL)-- Social media posts could come back to haunt Palm Bay councilman Chandler Langevin. The City Council will meet Thursday to discuss censuring Langevin. He accused Indians of exploiting the US immigration system, and he called for them to be deported. A number of Indian-Americans showed up at a recent city council meeting to say they were offended by Langevin's posts. The council could vote to censure Langevin for conduct unbecoming of an elected member and for improperly using the city's letterhead.

Former Kissimmee Cop Sentenced For Physical Arrest

(Kissimmee, FL)-- A former police officer will spend time behind bars in Osceola County. Former Kissimmee Police Officer Andrew Baseggio was sentenced yesterday to nine months in the county jail. He pled guilty to felony battery, witness tampering and official misconduct. The charges date back to two years ago when he responded to a call at a home on Brack Street. Investigators found Baseggio entered the home without a warrant, hit and Tased a man who was not resisting arrest. Others in the department were accused of covering up the incident, and Chief Betty Holland wound up resigning.   

USF Research Fellow Sees Crucial Days Ahead For MidEast Peace Deal

(Tampa, FL) -- The next few days could be crucial to keeping the peace in the Middle East. That's what USF Global and National Security Institute Research Fellow Arman Mahmoudian said yesterday. He says releasing hostages is a good sign, but this is not a done deal, and it's too soon to celebrate. Dr. Mahmoudian tells Tampa Bay 28 if both sides fulfill their promises by the end of the week, then we will have a foundation for a broader de-escalation.

Two Arrested After Crashing Car Into Miami Beach Restaurant

(Miami Beach, FL)-- Two men are in custody after fleeing a crash scene in Miami-Dade County. Miami Beach Police say three men were in a rented Tesla that crashed into a tree on Collins Ave on Sunday. The crash damaged Norman's American Bar and Grill, but the restaurant was closed, and no one was hurt. Video shows the men running from the scene. One of them is still on the loose.

Amazon Starts Holiday Hiring

(Seattle, WA) -- Amazon is hiring 250-thousand people in the U.S. ahead of the holidays. It's looking for full-time, part-time, and seasonal workers for its fulfillment and transportation teams. Employees can earn an average of 23 dollars per hour, plus benefits. The company says new job opportunities are posted weekly from October through December.

Survey: Most Finish Candy Before Halloween

(Undated) -- Turns out most Americans finish their candy before Halloween. A study on behalf of CVS Pharmacy shows the average American gobbles up their Halloween candy stash twice before seeing their first trick-or-treater. In fact, one in four of the two-thousand surveyed admitted they've had to restock three times or more. A whopping 55-percent said they have to rush out to buy candy at the last minute.
