10/22/25 Blog: A JeffCo Schools Candidate Had Issues, And Is Love Blind?
October 22, 2025
JEFFCO SCHOOLS VOTERS, PAY ATTENTION TODAY Because I've got Lindsay Datko from JeffCo Kids First on to talk about how her organization was alerted to the troubled past of one of the school board candidates that WAS backed by the teachers union. The union rescinded their endorsement but not until after calling JeffCo Kids First "extremists" for bringing up a sexual crime in a school board race. We will also chat about this gem of a comment by a current school board member:
Was this the right message for the first board meeting post Evergreen High School shooting? “Safety is actually a privilege. It is not a right…I wish I could walk through this world entitled to safety but I am not.” Children just ran for their lives and 2 were shot, Board… pic.twitter.com/Z7r1kTww3O

Got that? Safety at school is a PRIVILEGE. This board needs to be flipped, please vote for Denine Echevarria (she's a left winger but hopefully reasonable), Samuel Myrant, and Gloria "Terri" Gascon for JeffCo Schools. Lindsay joins me at 1 to chat about it all.
DID YOU WATCH DENVER'S LOVE IS BLIND FINALE? I know Arod did and today we have one of the contestants on the show at 12:30. Madison Maidenburg is (not ironically) the President of the Colorado Chapter for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, and she went on the show looking for love only to not find it. Follow her on socials here and here. SPOILER ALERT: Here is a recap of last night's finale.
LOOKING FOR AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE? We are hearing a lot about how Obamacare subsidies are going away and that people won't be able to afford health insurance, but there are options! I've had Travis Bockenstedt from Pinnacle Advanced Primary care on the show many times, but today he is joined by CEO Lisa Fagan from Smith Medical Direct Specialty Care to talk about how direct services can save you big. If you're losing your subsidy you want to pay attention to this! If you self insure, you want to pay attention to this! Find out more about Pinnacle here, or Smith Medical here.
DENVER IS SUING OVER GRANT CONDITIONS And oddly this is exactly what some cities in Colorado are suing our Democrat Governor over, which is strings attached to money. Denver says the requirement to do away with racist DEI edicts is a bridge too far and they won't do it, but the Trump admin says if you want money, you better do it. A judge will decide. Wouldn't it be super funny if Denver won the lawsuit and then cities used that ruling to win against the state of Colorado? That would be awesome.
TAXES = FEES = TARIFFS And Jimmy Sengenberger writes a great column here about how playing words games doesn't change the fact they all raise taxes on us. He's not wrong.
A NEW WILDFIRE DEFENSE SYSTEM FOR HOMES And this is super cool. A guy whose home was uncomfortably close to a wildfire in Silverthorne came up with a water efficient way to protect homes in the mountains as fires approach. This is just super cool.
DOUGCO SCHOOLS VOTES, PAY ATTENTION This is a great article about the two slates running for school board. Note the the big criticism of the current board, under whose policies the district focused on student achievement and got results, is that they screwed up firing Corey Wise, something that has already been adjudicated and that we've moved on from. I'd love it if they had asked the union backed slate if they would keep current Superintendent Erin Kane? I sure would. She's done an amazing job working to rebuild trust between the admin and teachers after the favoritism roiled Wise administration. This paragraph jumped out at me big time:
"No one on our slate has committed to a collective bargaining agreement," Callahan said. "What I think we are really eager to do is to sit down and listen to teachers and all educators, and listen to what they need to be successful in the classroom and working with our kids."
This is probably news to the Douglas County Federation, the teachers union that is fighting to bring back a collective bargaining agreement the district did away with years ago. They sent this letter out.
Hmmm, weird. Did the union pick these candidates? They seem to be taking credit there, don't they? But that's not all! The American Federation of Teachers sent out a big letter with better information about whether or not these candidates would vote to bring back the obviously unneeded CBA. Here is a key excerpt:
Without a collective bargaining agreement student achievement has increased and now Douglas County is the highest performing district in the metro, as well as the top district statewide with more than 50,000 students. But these people want to drag the unions, who only fight against the kind of innovation that is helping kids in Douglas County succeed, back into the picture. VOTE ACCORDINGLY for Steve Vail, Matt Smith, Dede Kramer, and Keaton Gambill.
ANOTHER VIOLENT PERSON IS ALLOWED TO KILL This time it's a story of a woman who was violently attacked by a man in his home. She reported it, and apparently nothing was done, because four days later he killed another woman. Read it here.
SHOCKER: THE JOHNSTOWN BREEZE IS RUN BY A NASTY LEFTIE Who thought it was a good idea to send a snappy email after getting an announcement from the Weld County GOP about an upcoming shindig. It sure was snappy.
Here’s what the publisher of the The Johnstown Breeze thought was appropriate to send us after we sent a simple announcement about the Weld GOP Hoedown.

Are there enough liberals in Weld County to support this rag? I sure hope any conservatives refuse to do business with this person and her product.
REAL ESTATE SOCIALISM IS STILL SOCIALISM And Ari Armstrong writes here about the notion of private property rights coming up against nanny staters who want to protect "their" version of private property rights with unreasonable restriction on how someone can use their own property. He's not wrong.
WANT TO ABORT A BABY THE DAY BEFORE THE DUE DATE? Good news! There is a new abortion clinic in Boulder where ghoulish employees will kill a baby that might look like this one for NO REASON! Woohoo! How cool! This is all sarcasm. This is disgusting.
A new Colorado abortion business will kill babies in abortions up to birth 34 weeks "for any reason."

This is a premature baby born at 34 weeks.
This is a human being. Not cells, not tissue.
There is absolutely no doubt that abortion kills babies. pic.twitter.com/UkUSNgpUg0
NOW IT'S JOHN BRENNANS' TURN ON THE HOT SEAT As he's been referred for prosecution by the House Judiciary Committee for the lies he told during the Biden Admin. And boy did he lie, over and over again. Read more here.

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICED THIS ABOUT NO KINGS The Daily Mail has a big story here about how the crowds were made up of rich, white boomers who were protesting about policies that have enriched a vast majority of them. Exactly. It was an old person cocktail party.
LET'S TALK ABOUT HOW YOU WALK Because even if this story is about how men walk and what it says about how they fight, the same can be true for women. We shall discuss.
SUCKS WHEN THE FACTS DON'T MATCH THE NARRATIVE YOU'RE SPINNING As Democrat mouthpiece George Stephanopoulos found out when he tried to say everything was MORE expensive this year for Thanksgiving. The CEO of Walmart helped him out.

I shared this because I went grocery shopping Monday and a LOT of the stuff I buy all the time has DROPPED in price. Not everything, mind you, but a good bit of it. How about you?
THE FOLLY OF "NO ENEMIES TO THE RIGHT" Holy cow this is a GREAT column by Babylon Bee editor Seth Dillon. It's paywalled but I'm gonna share parts of it today. From the column:
By insisting on “no enemies to the right,” the right is repeating the left’s biggest mistake. That phrase comes from the French Revolution, when the warning was pas d’ennemis à gauche—“no enemies to the left.” It was meant to establish strength through unity, but it quickly turned into an excuse to avoid self-scrutiny—a way out of confronting one’s own radicals by insisting the only real danger was on the other side.
This is how the American left has operated in recent years. Looking at all the ground the left has lost lately, it’s clear it was a huge mistake. Instead of taking on their own radicals and self-correcting, the left ignored uncomfortable questions and let its most extreme factions set the agenda.
The result was self-defeating overreach, with policies pushed into the mainstream that ordinary Americans couldn’t stomach. And so, despite all the cultural power they acquired, the left is now managing a movement in decline.
He's right, which is why the condemnation of the Young Republicans and their gallows humor Nazi texts had to happen. We can't allow any of the rot to fester in any way shape or form.
SCREAM CLUB IS A THING NOW For people who have trouble regulating their own emotions I guess. Read it here.

A COMPANY SAYS NO AI IN ITS ADS And the brand is getting a ton of press for this announcement. We'll see if it translates into sales for Aerie, the loungewear brand I've never heard of.

I'M NOT PAYING TAXES SO THESE CLOWNS CAN RETIRE EARLY I can't even believe that Democrats can't see how ineffective this kind of post is. Is she serious right now?
Early retirees like Bill & Shelly will see their health insurance premiums increase nearly 300%—from $442 to $1,700 per month if Congressional Republicans refuse to extend the enhanced tax credits.
