Study Ranks States by Bigfoot Spotting Odds
October 22, 2025
A new study examining Bigfoot sightings has identified what it claims are the best and worst states for spotting Sasquatch. Produced by the website Canada Sports Betting, the fairly comprehensive project compared reports of the famed cryptid with "population, recency, forest coverage, and climate" to produce a list of locations ranked by the likelihood of encountering the creature. Boasting the best odds was Washington State, where the study found one Bigfoot sighting for every 11,038 residents. Rounding out the top five were West Virginia, Oregon, Michigan, and Maine. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the list were, in descending order, California, Indiana, Louisiana, Arizona, and Maryland.
