A bizarre UFO case from Argentina, studies on the best states for spotting Bigfoot or ghosts, and a California jogger who keeps attacking a homeowner's Halloween decorations were among the weird and wondrous stories to cross our desk this past week.

A pair of interesting studies on high strangeness made the news this past week, beginning with an effort to determine the most haunted states in America. The project, which produced a ranked list using data from an online ghost sightings repository and population information, found New York State to be the 'winner' with 81 events per 10,000 people. Rounding out the top five most haunted states were Texas, Louisiana, California, and Utah. Later in the week, a similar study on Bigfoot sightings concluded that Washington State is where one is most likely to encounter the cryptid, followed by West Virginia, Oregon, Michigan, and Maine.

The downside of spooky season was on full display this past week by way of two rather odd stories. First, in Spain, a town announced a ban on adopting black cats out of fear that the felines could fall victim to twisted individuals looking to perform Halloween-inspired rituals. The regulation was also aimed at thwarting people who might want to 'borrow' the animals for their seasonal decorations. Meanwhile, in California, a homeowner cried foul over a jogger who twice attacked the Halloween decorations in her front yard. The wild doorbell footage of the incidents showed the rambunctious runner stop and pummel a trio of witches before resuming her sprint down the sidewalk.

This past week featured one of the weirder UFO cases to appear on our radar in quite some time. The incident, which occurred in Argentina, began with residents of a village stirring over the sight of a white orb with a violet pulse that was hovering over the community. When a police officer went to investigate the situation, he was called to a ranch where something truly extraordinary was unfolding. To the cop's astonishment, the farm's cows were walking in a circle beneath the ball of light as if they were mesmerized, and the horses were thrashing around the property. When the light suddenly vanished, the animals returned to normal. Intriguingly, when an Argentine UFO researcher attempted to acquire the police report on the event, his request was denied due to "national security reasons."
