WE NEED TO LEGALIZE CATASTROPHIC HEALTH INSURANCE PLANS FOR EVERYONE If we could do this ONE THING your health insurance life would be so much better and cheaper than it is now. Catastrophic health plans, those that don't kick in until you hit a pretty high deductible, are available, but only to people under 30 who show financial hardship. That's the law for Obamacare and in this column my pal Steve Moore explains that it needs to be available for EVERYONE who wants to buy it. Y'all, if you could buy this plan and then do a Direct Primary Care plan your lif would change. You'd have a better quality of healthcare with the comfort of knowing big stuff is covered. Why won't Democrats let this happen? Because they are trying to condition us for single payer where everything is "free". Steve joins me at 12:30 to discuss.

AG WEISER WANTS TO IGNORE DEMOCRACY TO SAVE DEMOCRACY Isn't it funny how Democrats always seem to need to destroy the will of the voters to SAVE DEMOCRACY? From inserting a candidate with zero votes into the Presidential race to now wanting to overturn bipartisan policy that was voted on by the people, they seem to love it. Attorney General Phil Weiser, who must have polling data showing him losing to Michael Bennet, is now out saying he wants to repeal an amendment to our Colorado Constitution that was referred in a bipartisan manner by the Legislature and passed overwhelmingly by voters. Why? Because Democrats want to be able to gerrymander Republican districts out of existence. I have to admire his honesty here, he isn't being cute. He says he "hates gerrymandering" but loves democracy more. MMkay. We shall discuss.

WHAT IS TRUMP EVEN DOING IN VENEZUELA? I've given Trump a LOT of credit for being the most peace-minded President in the last hundred years, so I'm genuinely confused about what he is doing in Venezuela. We've now got a warship off the coast of Venezuela and there is a lot of saber rattling going on as the administration keeps blowing up boats they say are full of drugs. What is this? The Free Press writes about it here. From the article:

Trump’s explanations often get tangled—he blames the Tren de Aragua gang, active on the streets of American cities, for a globe-spanning trade that American intelligence agencies say is more properly blamed on linked to the government-connected Cartel of the Suns, and he has offered not a scrap of proof that any of these boats were carrying drugs. But his general belief that Venezuela’s government is involved in the drugging of America’s kids is not invented out of whole cloth. Two high-ranking officials have pleaded guilty to protecting cocaine convoys, including the ex-major general Clíver Antonio Alcalá Cordones, extradited during Trump’s first administration and convicted under Joe Biden’s.

There are reasons, however, to suspect an ulterior motive. Disorderly Venezuela has scattered 7.9 million of its citizens into exile, and 770,000 have made their way to the United States, accounting for 7 percent of the migrants who arrived during the Biden administration. Trump wants them out. He has tried, and thus far failed, to convince the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals to let him deport certain Venezuelan nationals under the Alien Enemies Act. Perhaps this military pressure will help—either by convincing Maduro to be more cooperative or convincing the U.S. bench that the United States really is in the state of “armed conflict” Trump says it is.

So what are we doing here, really? I'm still not sure but I feel like we should know.

FINISHING LIGHT RAIL IS JUST STUPID And Randal O'Toole writes about it here with the real numbers that show this entire enterprise was just a boondoggle from the outset. From the story:

In 2004, Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) promised voters that by 2015 it could build six new rail transit lines and complete three extensions to existing lines for $4.7 billion. Today, it has spent $5.5 billion to complete five of the six lines and still has three extensions to build. Now a new report from RTD estimates it will cost at least another $1.2 billion to “complete the system.”

I know taxpayers in Longmont bought into this scheme too, but can you justify it now? Billions more wasted for what? A few people to be taken off the roads? I said it with the headline: Finishing light rail is just stupid.

KEYSTONE BEAT ARAPAHOE BASIN In a race that only they care about as skiers just want open slopes and they are getting both now from Keystone and A-Basin, both of which dropped the ropes this weekend for skier. Keystone kind of rope-a-doped Arapahoe by opening for some hours Saturday afternoon when Arapahoe announced they were opening Sunday. Ski Season has begun.

IT'S FUN TO BE A BRONCOS FAN AGAIN Especially after yesterday's shellacking of the "best offense in football this year" Dallas Cowboys. Bo Nix tied some Bronco records and it was super fun to watch. That's it, that's the story.

DENVER IS BAD AT BUSINESS, SO DON'T GIVE THEM MORE MONEY As voters are casting their ballots on an initiative that would give the City of Denver almost a billion dollars in bond money which will actually cost about two billion to pay back, read this. If you needed any more reason to vote no last week's news about the Denver Post building and the city buying it should help you understand these people do NOT need more of your money. They blew through $250 MILLION on just homeless people and illegal immigrants. Tell them no.

IS COACH PRIME ON THE HOT SEAT YET? And more importantly can he coach when his sons aren't on the team? The Buffs got their asses kicked and he says he is "dumbfounded" on how that happened. I'm thinking he should know. Read more here.

NO GOVERNMENT FOOD AID WILL GO OUT NOVEMBER 1ST The Trump admin officially notified that government food aid will NOT go out on November 1st. I can only imagine what would happen if a bunch of these people starting calling their Democrat Senator's offices to complain and beg them to end the shutdown. Of course people in poverty usually don't do such things because they are busy trying to survive.

SMALL GOVERNMENT CONSERVATIVES, PLEASE DONATE FOOD OR MONEY TO OUR FOOD BANKS I said this last week but I mean it. Even if the government shutdown wasn't happening, demand is WAY UP and this is the best way to help our fellow man and woman and child in Colorado. The Aurora Salvation Army is already running very low. If you think the government is too big, donate to these groups and help solve the problems ourselves. That's consistent.
