10/29/25 Blog: Weather Wednesday, And Gut Health Determines Health Aging

October 29, 2025

WEATHER WEDNESDAY AT 12:30 As Fox 31's Dave Fraser pops back in to talk cold and maybe snow at some point soon.

CAR WASHES ARE SPROUTING LIKE WEEDS And the wonderful lady we just met because of the Gleam Haunted Car Wash wants to sound the alarm on car washes popping up everywhere. I had this story about why so many seem to be popping up and it has nothing to do with clean cars and everything to do with tax breaks for ultra wealthy people. But real people who are in the business to make a living are in the cross hairs and Emilie Barratta pops back in to talk about it at 1.

WHAT'S IN YOUR GUT? Hippocrates way back in 400 BCE taught that all health begins in the gut, and we seem to be having a full circle moment as science is studying the connection between gut health and overall wellness. Today at 2:30 I've got Alex Martinez from Intrinsic Medicine on to talk about this study which showed that a healthy gut microbiome was the key to a healthy long life. His company Intrinsic Medicine is working with human milk to create a synthetic version that can boost heath and hopefully help with diseases like Parkinsons. Find out more here. He joins me at 2:30 to discuss.

NOT EVERY CRITICISM IS RACISM And the Denver Public School Board just wasted $80,000 investigating bogus claims of racism made by Superintendent Alex Marrero against board member John Youngquist. Youngquist has been rightfully critical of Marrero and the Board's counsel who keeps giving them garbage advice about meeting rules. Because of that Marrero had to levy charges which have no largely been found to be meritless. What did they investigate? Read this:

Examples cited in the report include a witness who said Youngquist called the district’s graduation rate “not good enough”; his failure to clap when Marrero was named superintendent of the year; refusing to shake a staff member’s hand; referencing another employee’s accent; and questioning the legal advice from an attorney representing the district.

The failure to clap? Are we now in North Korea? Are you kidding me? This is what passes for leadership? No, it isn't. It's using cries of racism to try to silence a member you don't like. Youngquist should accuse Marrero of bullying and demand an investigation too, let's see how much money we can waste while kids can't read and write on grade level. This is why the next story is so important, vote accordingly!

SCHOOL BOARD RACES MATTER SO MUCH, I'VE GOT SUGGESTIONS BELOW

RE: JEFFCO SCHOOL BOARD RACE: Lots of you asking who I like in this race and Dougco, so here you go: This board needs to be flipped, please vote for Denine Echevarria (she's a left winger but hopefully reasonable), Samuel Myrant, and Gloria "Terri" Gascon for JeffCo Schools.
RE: DOUGCO SCHOOLS RACE: I would love to see Vail, Keaton, Gambill, and Smith elected.
RE: DENVER SCHOOL BOARD RACE: All of these candidates lean left on some things, but that's Denver. I'd support Alex Magaña, Mariana del Hierro, Caron Blanke, and Timiya Jackson.
RE: CHERRY CREEK SCHOOL DISTRICT This district desperately needs help and you should vote for Amanda Thayer and Tatyana Sturm.

Even if you don't vote in anything else on your ballot, please vote for school board. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

HEY CENTENNIAL, YOU'VE GOT SOME HOT RACES GOING ON And these are the candidates I like.

If you're voting for City Council or Mayor, cast your vote for Robyn Carnes, Carrie Penaloza, Patty McKernan, Jeffrey Gilliam, and for Mayor, Don Sheehan.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR VOTER GUIDES Our friends at Complete Colorado have a pretty comprehensive list of voter guides here.

DENVER WANTS MORE FINES FOR LANDLORDS Of course they do. Now they want landlords who don't follow the rules to pay five times the amount they currently do. You can read more here.

COLORADO IS SUING THE TRUMP ADMIN...AGAIN This time over the loss of SNAP benefits during the government shutdown. A bunch of blue state Attorney Generals trying to prove how much they hate Trump have banded together to sue alleging that the USDA can use emergency funds to pay the benefits, while the USDA says federal law prohibits them from using emergency funds for regular benefits. A judge will decide and this seems pretty cut and dried. Of course the Democrats could just vote for the Continuing Resolution.

SPEAKING OF THE SHUTDOWN Are Democrats getting ready to cave? This column on HotAir.com by my pal David Strom seems to think so. Considering the Federal Worker union is demanding the Democrats cave things are not looking good. Senator John Thune says he's working around Schumer directly with Democrats.

IS 9NEWS SOURING ON THE MAYOR? Because this story about the Mayor falsely claiming (that's a lie when Trump does it, btw) that Flock cameras were used to solve the case of a trans woman who has found dead (no cause of death has been determined). No such thing occurred, although the Lakewood PD did say they were used to follow some leads that ultimately did not solve the crime. But 9News takes the tone here it usually uses with Republicans. Kind of quietly accusatory, laying out the details in such a way as to make the Mayor look like he was just using the death of a trans person to score points. They are absolutely right, by the way, I'm just not used to seeing these tactics used on one of their own. You can tell he's one of their own by their use of the word "misleads" instead of "lied".

THIS AS DENVER'S CITY COUNCIL TRIES TO BLOCK THE FLOCK CAMERAS The City Council seems to have had enough of Mayor Mike Johnston and they are pushing back hard on his latest move. He extended the contract with the FLOCK camera company without their input and they are hella mad. Now they are asking the city auditor to NOT sign the contract extension until their concerns are addressed. We'll see who wins this peeing match.

JAMAICA WAS HIT HARD And this is the first video I've seen of the aftermath and it's bad. Really bad. Look at photos here.

THE VIBRANT DENVER BOND IS ANYTHING BUT I've asked you guys not give Denver any more money as they spend it like drunken monkeys on illegal immigrants, bad real estate deals, and homeless hotels. Joshua Sharf has more reasons to vote NO on the Vibrant Denver bond here.

NO GAY GAMES FOR DENVER They lost out to Perth, Australia for the 2030 Gay Games. Why? Lots of speculation about politics in the US, but no confirmation from the games themselves. Denver just got a little less fabulous.

IS THE CLIMATE CRISIS OVER? One would think so when one of the biggest champions of climate doomsday science suddenly changes his tune. Bill Gates has been an ardent supporter of the climate scare tactics. He's said all sorts of things about climate change in the past. Things like this:

“By 2060, climate change could be just as deadly as COVID-19, and by 2100 five times as deadly.” (GatesNotes essay, Aug. 4, 2020.) Gates Notes
“The closer you live to the Equator, the worse the effects of climate change will be.” (GatesNotes post on adaptation, Mar. 16, 2021.) Gates Notes
“Fifty-one billion tons of greenhouse gases are released… Zero is the number the planet needs to reach.” (Harvard Gazette recap of his book talk, Feb. 24, 2021.) Harvard News
“The negative effects [of climate change] are much greater than the pandemic if we don’t reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050.” (Interview about his book, Feb. 19, 2021.) EL PAÍS English
“Although climate change will have serious consequences—particularly for people in the poorest countries—it will not lead to humanity’s demise.” (New memo ahead of COP30, Oct. 28, 2025.) Gates Notes
“In the next decade or two, the economic damage from climate change will likely be as bad as having a COVID-sized pandemic every ten years.” (GatesNotes essay, Aug. 4, 2020.) Gates Notes

So weird he would come out now and be like "no biggie". What is saying today?

In a few decades, cataclysmic climate change will decimate civilization. The evidence is all around us—just look at all the heat waves and storms caused by rising global temperatures. Nothing matters more than limiting the rise in temperature.
Fortunately for all of us, this view is wrong. Although climate change will have serious consequences—particularly for people in the poorest countries—it will not lead to humanity’s demise. People will be able to live and thrive in most places on Earth for the foreseeable future. Emissions projections have gone down, and with the right policies and investments, innovation will allow us to drive emissions down much further.

Huh. This is from a man who has spent $2 billion of his own money on climate change. Weird. Could it be that he finally realized the climate scientists are very invested in making sure they scare him into giving them more of his money? Just a guess. Those same scientists turned on him like a pack of jackals whose lives depended on it, and they do. Read his entire note here.

GLP-1 SEEM TO LEAD TO AN OBESITY DROP Don't get excited, we are still way too fat in the United States, but the rate has dropped after hitting record highs. The obesity rate is dropping as the use of GLP-1s is increasing. I'm sure there is a connection.

THE HYSTERICAL WAY THE MEDIA IS COVERING TRUMP'S HEALTH After being completely blind to just how addled Joe Biden was during his Presidency NOW the media is paying very close attention to everything President Trump does that could indicate in their minds failing health. This headline screamed

Trump, 79, Grips Railing for Dear Life While Descending Air Force One Stairs

So watch the video for yourself.

Seriously? No offense but that's how I go down stairs. This is almost beyond absurd but here we are.

DOES A POTTERY SHARD CONFIRM A BIBLICAL STORY? Many people don't realize that the Old Testament is in large part the history of the Jewish people. So it's not surprising to me that a shard of pottery inscribed with Assyrian text would confirm a story from the Bible. Read more here. Of course the story is about Judah paying for protection from Assyrian aggression. Check this out:

Scholars noted that this could correspond to events recorded in 2 Kings 18 and 19, during the reign of King Hezekiah.
These biblical passages describe Hezekiah being required to pay 300 talents of silver and 30 talents of gold to King Sennacherib of Assyria, a tribute meant to secure Judah from Assyrian aggression.

Cool, huh?

WHERE DID THE IDIOTIC 6-7 MEME EVEN COME FROM? 9News dug in.

THE DENVER CHRISTKINDL MARKET IS MOVING Because of the construction at City Park and I think this is a good move for them. They are setting up at the Auraria Campus on Tivoli Quad, which will make it feel more like the Christmas markets in Europe, which are tucked into random squared in a city, not stuck in a wide open park. Read more here, but I'm going.

HE AIN'T AFRAID OF NO GHOSTS Ari Armstrong writes here about the seance grifts that have been around forever and how a Denver man busted them way back in the day.

MMMMMM, DONUTS.... Did you know we sort of a Donut District in the southern metro? Me neither but I can assure you I will be investigating all of these soon.

HIGHLY PROCESSES VEGAN PRODUCTS MAY LEAD TO DEPRESSION The easy joke here is that people are sad because they aren't eating meat, but a new study shows a correlation between eating highly processed fake meat products and depression. And it's not small. To be clear, this does not extend to plant based diets that just eat real food.

SORRY TRUMP, THAT 22ND AMENDMENT IS A THING And Speaker Johnson puts down the Trump third term talk.

@msnbc

“Well, there is the 22nd Amendment... I don’t see the path for that.” Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson was asked by MSNBC Capitol Hill Reporter Mychael Schnell about President Trump’s recent comments on running for a third term in 2028. #trump #election #2028 #politics #news
