Fat Joe has been through a lot over the years, but his experience with depression made an impact on his life.

The veteran rapper opened up about his midlife crisis during the newest episode of Joe And Jada, which dropped on Tuesday, October 28. Joey Crack and Jadakiss gave their guest Ciara some advice after she recently celebrated her 40th birthday. During their chat, Joe revealed that he suffered from extreme depression after he turned 40.

"I've been in the game since I'm 19. So, when I'm about to turn 40, all I know is standing on couches and popping bottles," he explained. "But that 40 hit you like a different, like... I was depressed."

Fat Joe said his depression was fueled by anxiety about the future of his rap career. Although he had achieved plenty of success as a rapper, Joe said he had "never [seen] a rapper hit one out the park after 40." His depression hit hard, but he eventually snapped out of it after an impactful discussion with his close friend, Dre of Cool-N-Dre.

"So my man Dre [from] Cool & Dre came over on my birthday," Joe said. "I was straight depressed and he was like, 'Yo, Joe, you know Tina Turner ain't have her first hit till she was 47.' So he start breaking all this down. Made me feel a lot better. 'Cause I was scared of what the future was for what we're doing."

"So what we're doing is we're selling this brand. We're selling this and this and that," he added. "And then, for a guy like me, it felt like, Oh, they know I'm old now."

Over a decade later, Fat Joe feels better than ever. He explained that he "felt brand new again" and had a better outlook on life when he turned 50. Watch the entire episode of Joe & Jada featuring Ciara above.
