Candied Pecans & Walnuts
Any kind of nuts work here. The warm water helps melt the sugar.
Ingredients
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
1-1/8 teaspoons salt
3/4 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper - start with 3/4 teaspoon
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 cup (2 tablespoons) PLUS 2 teaspoons warm water
4 cups total nuts - I used half pecan halves and half walnut halves
Instructions
Preheat oven to 35 0.
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Or line with foil and spray foil.
In large bowl, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, salt, 3/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and cinnamon.
Slowly whisk in water.
Add nuts and stir until nuts are evenly coated. Give it a taste. Add more cayenne if you like.
Pour onto baking sheet in a single layer. If they’re clumped, they won’t roast evenly.
Bake 10-13 minutes or so, stirring a couple of times until nuts are caramelized and caramel is a nice brown, but not burned.
Cool and break nuts apart. Store covered, room temperature, up to 2 weeks or so.
