Bill Thwarted To Fast-Track Permanent Daylight-Saving Time
(Washington, DC)-- Two Florida lawmakers are reintroducing a bill to end Daylight Saving Time, however, efforts to fast-track it are stalling in Congress. The Sunshine Protection Act would allow states to determine whether they want to change their clocks twice a year. The bill received bipartisan support, but Senator Tom Cotton stopped the effort, saying daylight-saving time has a complicated history in our nation. Several states are already considering legislation to stop changing the clocks.
Florida's CFO Audits Miami-Dade Co.
(Miami, FL) -- Florida's chief financial officer is targeting Miami-Dade County during his ongoing search for wasteful spending. Blaise Ingoglia [[ Blayz in-GOH-lee-ah ]] says the local government has wasted 302-million dollars, according to his latest findings. He says he's uncovered over one-billion dollars in wasteful spending by eight other local governments across the state. Ingoglia and the governor are hoping to cut property taxes for homeowners who have paid off their mortgages.
Rapper Shaggy Describes Damage In Jamaica
(Miami, FL) -- The destruction from Hurricane Melissa is horrendous. That's what rapper Shaggy said yesterday after delivering relief supplies from Miami. Shaggy says his wife rode out the storm at their home on the island, and, thankfully, she's OK, but about 70 percent of residents don't have electricity. He says phone towers are down, too, and there are people who can't reach their loved ones. Shaggy tells CBS News Miami he'll be in Jamaica a few more days.
Scott Says He Was Targeted In Arctic Frost Investigation
(Washington, DC)-- Rick Scott says he was caught up in a witch hunt by the Biden administration. Senator Scott announced yesterday he learned he was targeted in the Arctic Frost investigation by Biden's Justice Department. The DOJ analyzed phone records of Republican lawmakers while investigating attempts to challenge the 2020 election results. Scott says Arctic Frost was a targeted attack to dismantle the Republican Party, destroy members of Congress and take down President Trump. He adds it was a complete weaponization of the government and an unconstitutional abuse of power.
Package Containing Body Parts Accidentally Delivered To Woman
(Hopkinsville, KY)-- A Kentucky woman got a shock after opening a package and finding human body parts. Authorities say that on Wednesday night, a woman opened a package she believed was medicine that was shipped to her, but instead found human arms and fingers inside the package. The Christian County Coroner's Office responded to the woman's home and took the body parts to the morgue. At this time, it is believed that a shipment error is to blame for the mixup and that the body parts were intended for transplant and research purposes.
Cop Goes Viral After Pantsless Appearance
(Detroit, MI) -- A Detroit cop is going viral for making virtual court appearance with no pants on. Judge Sean Perkins was taken aback during the hearing. Officer Matthew Jackson quickly adjusted his camera shot so he was only seen from the waist-up. The Detroit Police Department has since put out a memo reminding officers of proper attire for court, even if the appearance is virtual. The hearing earlier this week involved a plea deal for a woman accused of drag racing and disorderly conduct.
