The Ohio State Buckeyes are the No. 1 team in the first College Football Playoff Top 25 rankings of the 2024 season, which were announced during ESPN's live broadcast Tuesday (November 4) night.
The top three included No. 2 Indiana and No. 3 Texas A&M, followed by three more SEC teams in No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Georgia and No.6 Ole Miss. No. 7 BYU, No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 9 Oregon and No. 10 Notre Dame conclude the top 19, with Virginia at No. 14 as the top ACC team. The five highest-ranked conference champions will receive an automatic bid in the 12-team playoff, which was implemented last season.
Ohio State, the defending College Football Playoff national champion, has held the No. 1 ranking in the Week 11 Associated Press College Football Top 25 since the preseason poll and remains undefeated through its first eight games. Indiana also ranks No. 2 in the AP Top 25 poll, as the two teams would face off in the Big Ten Championship Game if both remain undefeated.
