Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra's home was heavily damaged by a massive fire Thursday (November 6) morning, officials confirmed via NBC Miami.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said it received a report at around 4:36 a.m. local time at a single-family residence, which property records confirmed was purchased by Spoelstra for $6 million in 2023. Firefighters found "two structures on the property fully involved" in fire, with flames reported to be "as tall as the trees" upon arrival.

The initial responding firefighters called for backup and 20 total units, including a hazardous materials team, were present at the scene, Battalion Chief Victoria Byrd confirmed to NBC Miami. Authorities said they switched to a "defensive attack" in battling the fire after the home had partially collapsed.

"Due to the privacy wall and a lot of the tree cover, it was very difficult to access, with only one point of entry," Byrd said via NBC Miami.

No injuries were reported as of Thursday morning and the fire was reported to have been contained to just one house. Spoelstra, 55, and the Heat were traveling back to Miami Thursday morning following their road loss to the Denver Nuggets Wednesday (November 5) night.

The Heat's charter flight reportedly landed in Miami at 5:11 a.m. local time and Spoelstra arrived at the home as fire crews were working to contain the blaze, the Associated Press reports.

Spoelstra, who was recently named the head coach of the USA Basketball men's team, is a two-time NBA champion and the winningest coach in Heat franchise history, having been selected as one of the '15 Greatest Coaches in NBA History' during the league's 75th anniversary season in 2021.
