Trump Booed At Commanders Game After Pushing For Stadium Name

President Donald Trump was loudly booed by fans at Sunday’s (November 9) Washington Commanders game just days after reports surfaced that he wanted the team’s new stadium named in his honor.

Video circulated online showed the crowd at Northwest Stadium booing Trump when he appeared on the Jumbotron, waving from a suite alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The boos intensified as he led a swearing-in ceremony for new U.S. military recruits.

The reaction came on the heels of a report that Trump had pushed the Commanders’ ownership to name their upcoming D.C. stadium after him.

“That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said last week.

Trump attended the Commanders' matchup against the Detroit Lions as a guest of Washington's managing partner, Josh Harris. Other attendees included House Speaker Mike Johnson, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles. Trump made history as the first sitting president since 1978 to attend a regular-season NFL game.

During the broadcast, Trump briefly joined the Fox NFL commentary team and received a Commanders jersey emblazoned with the number “47.”

The Commanders went on to lose to the Lions 44–22.
