A Northern California man, Alex Plant, 28, was seriously injured when a frozen water balloon crashed through his windshield while he was driving home from work. The incident occurred on Thursday (November 6) around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 20 near Marysville, California. As Plant was driving, a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction launched the frozen projectile, shattering his windshield and sending shards of glass into his face and eyes.

Plant described the experience to KCRA, saying, "I barely saw it for a quarter of a second before it just came straight through." Despite the severe impact, he managed to pull his car off the road and used Siri to call 911, as his eyes were swelling shut.

At the hospital, medical staff spent hours removing glass shards from Plant's eyes. He expressed uncertainty about his future vision, stating that his right eye remains blurry.

"I wasn't even sure I'd be able to see my family, to be honest with you," Plant told the news station.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspect vehicle. Plant and his family are urging anyone with information to contact authorities. Plant reflected on the incident, noting, "Somebody went through all that trouble to, like, freeze it, tie it off, and then throw it through the windshield before it defrosted. That's just crazy."
