Chris Stapleton premiered a cinematic music video starring actor Josh Brolin on Wednesday (November 12).

The “White Horse” visual was filmed in Marfa, Texas. Brolin appears as the star, alongside Mae McKagan and Tommy Martinez, with Stapleton and his wife, Morgane Stapleton, making cameos. Running Bear Films directed the video, and Strange Arcade produced it, per a press release issued Wednesday morning to announce the video’s debut.

“Listening to ‘White Horse’ over and over again, we visualized a couple on the run and wanted to add some complexity with the parental sheriff relationship between Mae and Josh’s characters,” Stephen Kinigopoulos and Alexa King Stone of Running Bear stated in the release. “What was just going to be an action-packed love story, also became a story about letting go and trust.”

Brolin said in a behind-the-scenes clip that Stapleton shared on Instagram on Tuesday (November 11) that a favorite scene of his was when “we blew up a car.” Kinigopoulos and King Stone showed viwers how the fiery scene came together (including the moment Stapleton himself got to push the button to ignite the flames).

Stapleton released “White Horse” as a single from his latest studio record Higher, which also included “It Takes a Woman,” “Think I’m In Love With You,” the title track and more. Stapleton is nominated at the upcoming 59th CMA Awards, taking place on November 19 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. He’s up for Music Video of the Year (“Think I’m In Love With You”), Male Vocalist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. See the full list of CMA nominees here. Stapleton is also up for multiple honors at the 68th Grammy Awards in February 2026. Those categories include Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance (“A Song To Sing” with Miranda Lambert), and Best Country Solo Performance (“Bas As I Used To Be” from F1: The Movie’s soundtrack).
