Ye is set to hit the stage in Brazil, but city officials are threatening to toss him in jail if he promoting Nazism in any way during his performance.
The artist formerly known as Kanye West has a concert scheduled for the end of November. However, according to a report Metropoles published on Tuesday, November 11, the São Paulo State Prosecutor’s Office in Brazil received a complaint from Councilwoman Cris Monteiro. The complaint prompted an order from prosecutor Ana Beatriz Pereira de Souza Frontini, which prohibits Ye from selling swastika T-shirts, performing his controversial song "Hiel Hitler" or displaying Nazi symbolism.
São Paulo's mayor also issued a statement and said that police officers have been instructed to arrest Ye or anyone "who makes any apology for Nazism," per TMZ. The controversial artist, his entourage, and the promoters of the show, Guilherme Cavalcante and Jean Fabrício Ramos, could face charges of racism and collective moral damages. The show is set for November 29 and tickets are on sale, but it reportedly does not have a venue attached to it yet.
Ye has been under fire for the past several years for his antisemitic views. His rants about Jews on social media and the hateful rhetoric he pushed in interviews on right-wing platforms generated a lot of backlash from the Jewish community and its supporters. However, he was recently seen begging for forgiveness from a rabbi, so it seems like he's trying to redeem himself. In the clip, Ye explained that he suffers from bipolar disease and took accountability for everything he's said and done.
Check out the video of Ye with a rabbi below.
