Chase Stokes reacted to “f***ing weird,” negative comments on social media after Kelsea Ballerini released her latest EP, Mount Pleasant.
Ballerini, 32, posted a clip of one of the songs from the 6-track collection, “People Pleaser,” on TikTok. Stokes, 33, called out commenters referencing the Outer Banks actor and his ex-girlfriend and co-star, Madelyn Cline, 27, on Ballerini’s posts (some TikTokers have replied those comments have since been deleted). He wrote on Monday (November 17): “These comments are f***ing weird. Grow up.”
Some social media users were quick to make the connection that Mount Pleasant, the title of Ballerini’s EP, is a town in South Carolina and an Outer Banks filming location. Ballerini and Stokes started dating in January 2023, after the country star slid into the actor’s DMs. News broke in September that the couple parted ways, though they’ve since sparked rumors that they're back together after they were spotted holding hands and sitting closely with one another. An unnamed “insider” told US Weekly earlier this month that “Kelsea and Chase are giving their relationship another try. There’s still a lot of love there, so they fell back into it very naturally.” Neither Ballerini nor Stokes have publicly commented on their breakup or relationship status as of publication time.
Ballerini’s Mount Pleasant, which arrived on November 14, also includes “Emerald City,” “587,” “The Revisionist” and “Check On Your Friends,” plus “I Sit In Parks,” the vulnerable ballad that released from the project first. The 2026 Grammy nominee and 59th CMA Awards performer and nominee described Mount Pleasant as “a collection of six songs that i’ve written throughout the summer, marking a chapter of heavy self examination, longing, and stepping further into who I am as a 32 year old woman.”
