COLORADO DEMOCRATS ARE BEING INVESTIGATED Over a trip to Vail for a private conference with business leaders about something or other. The issue is they stayed in a swanky hotel and had their food and travel expensed covered by an outfit called One Main Street, and that is alleged to have violated gift and ethics rules. If lawmakers are found guilty of ethics violations they can be fined double the amount of the benefit they received, which would likely be a few thousand dollars each I'm guessing. What made me laugh was this quote from the Chair of the Colorado Democratic party Shad Murib:

In a statement Tuesday, Colorado Democratic Party Chair Shad Murib pointed to “dark money” groups for launching the complaints.
“Colorado Democrats hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, and that includes allowing the Independent Ethics Commission to do its work without political games,” Murib said in the statement. “Lawmakers have already taken good-faith steps to address the situation before the IEC by making a sizable contribution to the Food Bank of the Rockies, regardless of whether they believe a violation occurred. If the filer were acting in good faith, these complaints would be withdrawn. I applaud Senator Lindsey Daugherty for taking swift action and appreciate her initiative.”

A sizable contribution to Food Bank of the Rockies is nice, but we don't do dispensations here. The law doesn't say that you can break it but then make a donation to a good cause as an apology. They should have saved their money, as from where I'm sitting they clearly violated the law, something that donation indicates to me they know too. We'll see what happens next, but I bet if this were Republican lawmakers Mr. Murib would not be so forgiving.

WE MAY BE HEADED FOR BLACKOUTS If Colorado continues on its scheduled closure of power plants the Greenies deem bad. I'm talking about reliable energy sources from coal, which has been under attack for years now. Read this report from the Independence Institute for more, we shall discuss.

MIKE ROSEN TALKS MAMMY IN THE BIG APPLE And Mike is so right here about the outcome of Zohran Mamdani's idiotic policies.

THE AURORA NAVIGATION CENTER IS UP AND RUNNING and on the first day of operation served 176 people who are homeless. The center is different than what Denver does because it's goal is to move people to sobriety, mental health, and self sufficiency. People needing help have three levels of service in the center, with the first being emergency shelter in a large space with cots. There are no requirements to stay there. To move up to the next level, a person has to commit to working with case workers to get them the help they need for addiction, job skills, or mental help. The third level is for after that commitment has been shown the and work has begun, and THEN you get a nice hotel room for yourself. It's based on the same model as Step Denver, where there are responsibilities that earn rewards. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

AS DENVER HIRES A SHADY HOMELESS COMPANY TO DO A VAGUE THING The Denver City Council just approved another $11 million dollars to contract with a company called Urban Alchemy out of California to provide "outreach" services on the streets. What does that mean? When someone calls 311 about a homeless person doing something shady, these folks will show up and offer services or something. Mmkay. My question is, how do we measure their success? No one seems to know and City Journal did a long story about how they work the homeless industry grift beautifully without being held accountable because there are no metrics of what "success" actually is. But sure, give them another 11 million. Sure. From the article in City Journal:

This model often leads to subpar results—to put it generously—on the ground, both for UA employees and their clients. In Sausalito, a wealthy Marin County town that had brought in the organization to work in “several city-sanctioned homeless camps,” per the San Francisco Standard, homeless residents alleged that UA practitioners ran a “criminal syndicate” that involved trafficking crystal meth in the camps and sleeping with and physically assaulting residents. (Urban Alchemy reportedly contends that these allegations, which form the basis of an ongoing federal RICO lawsuit against it, are “frivolous and predicated on racial bias aimed at many of its Black employees.”) One practitioner was accused of attempted murder for a shooting near one of the nonprofit’s contracted San Francisco homeless shelters; another was filmed allegedly brandishing a knife while on duty; and others have been accused of repeatedly sexually harassing subordinates.

But I'm sure it will fine here. I'm sure.

WHEN ASKING FOR ACCOUNTABILITY IS BAD When you are a Denver Public School Board member, expecting accountability from the District is bad. Just ask John Youngquist, who was censured by his racist colleagues for wanting answers. I say racist colleagues because I don't believe he would have been censured were he not a white man. Prove me wrong. Jimmy Sengenberger writes more about it here.

SO WHEN WILL THE EPSTEIN STUFF BE RELEASED? I wouldn't expect anytime soon, because again, I believe there are very powerful people who are going to have a lot of explaining to do. You can read more here, but we don't have a good answer yet. The longer it takes, the more it stinks like a coverup.

REPUBLICAN ARE TRYING TO POLISH A HEALTHCARE TURD By trying to figure out how to continue to give money to people who were getting extended subsidies in a way that will satisfy both Democrats and the President. You can read it here, but it's really frustrating that we are operating from the foundation of Obamacare rather than something better.

SHOULD YOU BE ABLE TO BUY LOTTERY TICKETS WITH CREDIT CARDS? This is a horrible idea. Let's let people go INTO DEBT to buy a ticket which is almost certainly a loser. I'm not alone in thinking this is a horrible idea, many lawmakers are balking at the Governor's suggestion. Why credit card companies would let people put gambling expenses on their credit cards is beyond me as well. But then again, I'm not much of a gambler.

TOYS TO AVOID THIS HOLIDAY SEASON INCLUDE AI The Public Interest Research Group does this list every year of Toxic Toys and this year the big "winner" is AI toys. Check this out:

Our testing of four toys that contain A.I. chatbots and interact with children. We found some of these toys will talk in-depth about sexually explicit topics, will offer advice on where a child can find matches or knives, act dismayed when you say you have to leave, and have limited or no parental controls. We also look at privacy concerns because these toys can record a child’s voice and collect other sensitive data, by methods such as facial recognition scans.

Yikes. We just had Teddy Ruxpin, who just looked around with his vacant stare. Think very carefully before allowing AI access to your kids unfettered. Better yet, don't do it.

DON'T BURN YOUR HOUSE DOWN FRYING A TURKEY And I legit know someone who burnt their house down frying a turkey. They decided to do it in the garage and things went as you can imagine. This is a great story on how NOT to fry a turkey.

NICK OFFERMAN OFFERS WOODWORKING CLASS Oh, and comedy. He's coming in February to do both at the Paramount, find out more here.

AI IS STILL JUST MAKING STUFF UP And lazy researchers need to be aware. When Chat gives me a link to a study to "confirm" what it is telling me, I always go to the study to read the abstract. You would be SHOCKED at how many time Chat gives me a real study that has NOTHING to do with what I'm asking. But I'm not alone, it does that for a lot of things. Read it here.

PARASOCIAL IS CAMBRIDGE'S WORD OF THE YEAR What does it mean? The dictionary defines it as a:

“connection that someone feels between themselves and a famous person they do not know, a character in a book, film, TV series, etc., or an artificial intelligence.”

Do some of you have a parasocial relationship with me? I'm cool with that.

NANOBOTS MAY DELIVER YOUR NEXT DOSE OF MEDICATION This is so freaking cool. Scientists are working on using tiny robots to pinpoint exact delivery for medication. This could be a game changer for cancer treatments especially. Read it here.

YOU MAY WANT TO AVOID MILE HI SKYDIVING As the Longmont company seems to have a very high rate of people dying when jumping with them. Read more here.
