Meghan Trainor is getting real about the emotional impact of reading "mean" comments about her appearance from haters online.
In a new interview with Extra shared Tuesday (November 18), the "All About That Bass" singer opened up about the toll rude remarks have taken on her mental health following her 60-pound weight loss. She has previously been vocal about her fitness journey and use of Mounjaro to assist in losing the weight as well as the cosmetic procedures she has had done, per E! News.
"I started posting pictures of myself recently, just like I always did," she said. "But for some reason a flame went off, and everyone got mad. Just like, 'Ew, I don't recognize you, you're just a walking nose.' Just crazy stuff, like mean."
Though she admitted to trying to act as if the comments didn't phase her, Trainor said she couldn't help but cry over the harsh critiques despite being "the healthiest [she's] ever been and the most fit."
"And I was like, 'This doesn't affect me,'" she said, adding, "Yes, it did. I cried so much. They got to me, and my therapist was like, 'You give them too much power.' I wish I didn't. So, I'm trying to learn at 31 not to give strangers power. It feels silly."
Trainor took back her power in her new single "Still Don't Care," a track oozing self-confidence while touting being exactly who you are and living as authentically as possible, no matter who is watching.
"I wrote down what people have said to me online or in person," she said. "I was like, 'I don't know what's going on, but I wanted to write a big song about it that felt like, 'Leave me alone I don't care.' I felt beautiful."
