Randy Travis' 'Unmistakable' Voice Featured On Holiday Song From The Vault

Randy Travis delivered “an early Christmas present” on Friday (November 21).

The legendary country artist, 66, debuted “Where My Heart Is,” an unreleased original holiday song from the vault. Travis recorded it before his 2013 stroke, which left him with just a 2% chance of survival and damage to the part of his brain that controls speech and language. “Where My Heart Is” “captures Travis’ unmistakable, timeless vocals, offering listeners a powerful reminder of his artistry,” reads a press release issued Friday to announce the heartfelt single’s release.

“'Where My Heart Is’ is special because it takes me home, and it’s from the vault. I recorded it before my stroke, so it’s a reminder of the blessings of yesteryear and the hope of tomorrow,” Travis said in a statement with the help of his wife, Mary. “Christmas time is a special time spent with family and friends, as we celebrate the reason for the season…hold those moments in your heart always. We hope you, and yours, enjoy my long-awaited release in the warmth of the Holidays with those you hold dear.

“I’m thrilled to share an unreleased recording from the vault this holiday season! ‘Where My Heart Is’ reminds me of the family, friends, and fans I’m grateful for every day, especially during the holidays,” he added. “I can’t wait for you to hear this incredibly special recording from the vault, and I hope it brings you the same warmth and gratitude I feel during the holiday season.”

Travis released his groundbreaking first AI-assisted single, “Where That Came From,” last year, marking his first studio release in more than a decade. He followed it with another AI-assisted ballad, “Horses In Heaven,” earlier this year. Mary told iHeartCountry at the 59th ACM Awards in May 2024 that “it was so emotional for him and I could hardly hear because I was crying so loud,” when the seven-time Grammy winner started releasing music again. “It was so beautiful to hear that voice. I waited 11 years just to hear that voice.”
