OUR FUTURIST THOMAS FREY TALKS THE DESTRUCTION OF SYSTEMS This article is quite alarming when you begin to realize that the systems you and I grew up with are trashed. Here he writes about the Great Systems Collapse, but it's not all gloom and doom. There is room for great improvement with today's technology. IMMIGRANTS SHOULD NOT GET WELFARE When our ancestors immigrated here there was no welfare state. They stayed with family until they got on their feet or they starved or went home. When my friend's husband came here legally he had to SWEAR he would not use any welfare benefits. But that's not what's happening. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, the following stats are:

54% of households headed by immigrants used ≥1 major welfare program

39% of households headed by U.S.-born individuals did so

Among non-citizen–headed households, the share was about 59%

Frankly, this is not okay. Not at all. We are not getting the best and brightest, we're getting the poor and needy. We are creating a new underclass of immigrants who will be trapped in these programs forever (because of the welfare cliff) along with importing moochers who don't want the American Dream but are seeking the American Grift. This editorial about SNAP benefits and people here illegally is another example. To be clear, I want every immigrant who wants to come here legally to do so, if they want to work hard and achieve. But this isn't that. I didn't sign up for more dependents, did you?

NEW DOUGCO SCHOOL DRAMA And I don't know why we do this to ourselves. I didn't vote for the new board members, but I am going to give them a chance to demonstrate to me what they are really about. That being said, boy did they fumble the handoff. Using a series of flimsy excuses ("I wanted my friend to swear me in"? Really?) they gave those opposed to their election new cannon fodder before they even got started. Jimmy Sengenberger writes about it here, but there is a longer article about it here. Why can't we just have normal things? Why can't we just do things without creating a new slew of BS? I have zero hope that this new board will listen to any of my concerns after this. Here we go again. If you're a Douglas County parent get ready for a whole bunch of claptrap. I feel it. But my daughter will be gone before they can really eff things up so it's up to the next generation to focus on student achievement like the last board did. You voted for this.

AND GAYTAN COULD BE THE DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT AGAIN Good grief. We've just collapsed if this racially focused woman gets the reins again. Read more here, but the first Latina-Indigenous-Something-Something as she always introduces herself wants to be in charge again to protect Alex Marrero because he's brown, no because he's good.

AND ELIZABETH SCHOOLS FACES A NEW LAWSUIT About their system to choose age appropriate books for their school libraries. I refuse to call it a "book ban" because it not. There are millions of books not appropriate for elementary school libraries and we don't say they are "banned" so I refuse to use the language that the news media uses. Now a woman hired LAST YEAR is suing because she says she was fired after she spoke out about the systematic way a committee chose books and didn't choose books she wanted. That's really the issue. The ACLU is funding her lawsuit, along with another lawsuit about book placement. This statement from the Elizabeth Superintendent Dan Snowberger indicates to me they have had enough and will continue to fight:

“The district intends to defend itself in court, and the facts will show that the individual’s employment ended because she failed to take the steps to secure the necessary licensure for the position, and because the position was one of several eliminated for cost-saving reasons during a fiscal exigency,” Snowberger said.

Good. All of the books mentioned are available in the public library, by the way.

THE FEDS ARE TARGETING TRUCKING SCHOOLS Because they simply aren't meeting the federal requirements for teaching people how to operate trucks. We've seen multiple instances lately of illegal immigrants being granted CDL licenses when they can't read or speak English, some causing accidents where people were killed. First off, I'm not super happy about knowing there are people who are unqualified driving missiles down the road. But second, good, there are a lot of American born truck drivers looking for work, let's thin the herd and get them working again. The schools have been notified that their accreditation is in jeopardy if they don't fix things. That is 44% of truck driving schools, people. This is super concerning.

BRONCOS SET ANOTHER RECORD As the team with the most NFL comeback wins in NFL history. The name for this team is the Heart Attack Bunch. But we're having the heart attacks.

EUROPE DID WHAT COLORADO WANTS TO DO AND RUINED ITS ECONOMY And it's all about Green Energy. The Wall Street Journal writes about it here and we will go over it at length. Just look at this:

Energy prices have also grown more volatile as the share of renewables increased.

THE WHITE HOUSE THROWS AN ADMIRAL UNDER THE BUS When it comes to taking responsibility for the second strike on an alleged drug boat that killed two survivors of the initial attack. They are blaming the Admiral in charge.

At the time of the attack off the Trinidad coast, Frank Bradley was head of the Joint Special Operations Command. According to a Washington Post report about the incident, it was he who relayed the order from Hegseth to “kill everybody” by sending Navy SEALs back to the disabled boat to have them kill the two people clinging to the wreckage.

We'll see how this plays out but what happened to "The buck stops here"? I'm just saying.

IS CALIFORNIA SOBER A THING? California sober is when someone stops drinking and smokes pot instead. I know, I know. But does it help stop excessive drinking? A new study says it might work. I guess when Sober Sober is out of reach this is something.

This coincides with a growing belief among Americans that moderate alcohol consumption is bad for one’s health, now the majority view for the first time.

75 IS OLD and that's not according to me, it's according to scientists who study aging. At 75, our bodies become less resilient and able to recover from illness or injury. It's when the age of frailty begins to set in. I intend to stay as strong and healthy as possible to keep that from happening to me.
