12/3/25 Blog: Weather Wednesday, More On MN Fraud, And Let's Move To Boca?

December 3, 2025

FOX 31'S DAVE FRASER IS GONNA BE BUSY TODAY Counting snow totals and whatnot. Lucky for us he's joining us at 12:30 for Weather Wednesday to talk about it.

BOCA RATON WANTS YOUR BUSINESS And I've got Jessica Del Vecchio, Economic Development Manager for the City of Boca Raton on to talk about office vacancies here in Denver and how they are trying to woo our business away. If you're looking to be wooed you can check this out. She joins me at 1 to discuss it. Just how bad are our downtown occupancy rates? Really, really bad. I made a chart. Maybe everyone is moving to Boca already.

JON JUSTICE TALKS MINNESOTA At Twin Cities News Talk every morning so I thought I'd bring him on to talk about the fallout from the massive fraud taking place there. He's on at 2:30 today. I watched this interview with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and was actually grateful that Jared Polis leads our state for a minute. I skipped the softball TRUMP BAD opening question so you can get to the meat of it.

Of course Welker asked ZERO follow up questions about what is now the biggest story in the country. Whatever. I'm guessing Jon will give us a different perspective. Read this piece by Christopher Rufo, who broke the story initially, for more.

WHY ARE WE PAYING MORE FOR FEWER STUDENTS? And getting worse results from our K-12 system? This article talks about a new study by Reason.com about how our educational funding is at record highs but teacher pay is lagging and student achievement is down. It's a good question, though I suspect the 2019 PERA fix it to blame for the dire numbers. Read it here, we shall discuss.

COLORADO IS COMING FOR YOUR GAS APPLIANCES And do not doubt me, they just made it policy. In the desire to send us to the more expensive and unreliable renewables, they are taking away cheap, efficient natural gas. Read this:

But the majority of cuts will need to come from more effective overhauls of home and building heating systems, replacing natural gas-burning furnaces with electric-driven heat pumps and other clean heating devices. There are also plenty of gains to be had from accelerating installation of more efficient appliances and home insulation, advocates say.
...
“Meeting this goal will require greater customer adoption of electrification and advancements in heating technologies within the decade,” Xcel spokesperson Michelle Aguayo said Monday. “Xcel Energy remains committed to a balanced, dual-fuel clean heat transition that prioritizes affordability and reliability. We’re already reducing emissions while keeping costs low. Our Clean Heat Plan gives customers a portfolio of options—conservation, electrification, new technologies, and cleaner fuels—so they can choose solutions that fit their needs and deliver deeper, cost-effective reductions.”

Doesn't that look like they want our gas appliances? It does to me. Read the rest of the story here.

ABOUT THE PETE HEGSETH WAR CRIME The New York Times did a story on the alleged war crime committed by Pete Hegseth as it concerns a second strike on an alleged drug boat from Venezuela that killed two survivors. They have a much different take:

According to five U.S. officials, who spoke separately and on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive matter that is under investigation, Mr. Hegseth, ahead of the Sept. 2 attack, ordered a strike that would kill the people on the boat and destroy the vessel and its purported cargo of drugs.
But, each official said, Mr. Hegseth’s directive did not specifically address what should happen if a first missile turned out not to fully accomplish all of those things. And, the officials said, his order was not a response to surveillance footage showing that at least two people on the boat survived the first blast.
Admiral Bradley ordered the initial missile strike and then several follow-up strikes that killed the initial survivors and sank the disabled boat. As that operation unfolded, they said, Mr. Hegseth did not give any further orders to him.

So it seems if anyone committed a crime it was Admiral Bradley, who will now have to deal with the consequences, though Hegseth is standing behind him for now. It is convenient that this story broke just after the stupid video by members of Congress telling military members to disobey illegal orders was trashed, isn't it? Interesting.

DENVER PUBLIC SCHOOLS IS STUCK WITH GAYTAN AGAIN As Board President, a role from which she will continue to slobber all over incompetent Superintendent Alex Marrero. Whatever, I don't have kids in that district so I don't know why I care that they continue to embrace mediocrity and failure.

KIDS DON'T NEED CELLPHONES And more and more data is coming out that links the use of smartphones with higher rates of depression, anxiety, and obesity. If you MUST have a phone for your kid (I get it) get them a dumb phone without smartphone features. We used the Wait Until 8th strategy and didn't get The Q a phone until she was 13. She didn't die. I wish we had waited longer if I'm honest.

CAN JIM MORA CHANGE THINGS AT CSU? Both CU and CSU have had a rough year, although CSU isn't running a multi million dollar deficit to my knowledge. They just hired veteran coach Jim Mora to head the program and he's had good success at turning things around so we'll see what he can do for Fort Collins.

HOME PRICES ARE CORRECTING And this is going to mean price drops, but not by much. This is NOT the same as what happened in 2008, no matter what people trying to scare you say. The fundamentals are much different, and a market correction would be appropriate and needed. Super low mortgage rates drove prices higher but now with affordability issues, people are going to have meet buyers where they are. If you're a long time homeowner who has benefited from our insane market gains or an owner who has no intention of selling anytime soon, you have nothing to worry about. The right realtor can help you maximize your price.

CAN WE STOP WITH THE STORIES ABOUT TRUMP'S HEALTH? Because the very same news media who called people "agist" for pointing out that Joe Biden didn't know where he was half the time are the ones doing it. This story is stupid. Just stupid. I would not trust these people to report on the health of a corpse.

HOW SOROS FUNDED THE RELEASE OF DANGEROUS CRIMINALS The headline of this article is

How George Soros changed criminal justice in America

But in reality it should be

How George Soros Made Crime Pay In America

Because that's exactly what is support of soft on crime prosecutors (including Denver) has done. You can read it here, but the long and short of it is he backs people who won't prosecute criminals. It's that simple.

WHY TRUSTING THE EXPERTS IS A DUMB IDEA TL:DR on this one:

Psychologist Philip Tetlock spent twenty years tracking expert predictions about world events. In his two-decade study, Tetlock catalogued more than twenty-eight thousand expert predictions and found that experts were slightly less accurate than a random coin toss.

Just saying.

OH MY, THIS AI Is stunning. We are in for real problems for the foreseeable future when it comes to what is real and what is not.

REMOVING FOOD DYES DOESN'T REMOVE THE TASTE As one taste tester of the new dye free Doritos and Flaming Hot Cheetos found out. I can live without the orange dust, can you?

Donald Trump has delivered a brutal insult to a reporter who probed the president over his recent MRI scan. As he and Melania returned to the White House on Air Force One Sunday night, Trump addressed last month's MRI in a press briefing after Minnesota Governor Tim Walz demanded the results be released publicly. During the exchange with journalists, he was asked for his response to Walz's cries for transparency. 📸 Reuters
