Burna Boy is stepping up to help the families of victims who were killed in the deadly shooting at a children's birthday party in Stockton, California.
The "Last Last" singer spoke with TMZ on Tuesday, December 2, and confirmed that he would cover the funeral costs for all four victims of the shooting. He first heard about the tragic story during The Breakfast Club's Front Page News segment. Afterward, he reached out to Wack 100, who connected him with Jason Lee. The media personality now serves as the vice mayor of Stockton, and he gave a passionate speech directed at the alleged gunmen during a prayer vigil for the young victims.
"It's never been gangster to kill kids," Lee said. "Never. You went in a birthday party and shot people's children. Parents brought their children out and they left with medical examiners. That is not human."
According to Stockton police, over 100 people were inside a banquet hall on Saturday night, November 29, for a two-year-old girl's birthday, when a gunman opened fire. The shooting began indoors and spilled out into the street. 11 people were injured and four people were killed, including children between 8 and 14, as well as an adult male. The victims were identified as 8-year-old Journey Rose Reotutar, soon to be 9-year-old Maya Lupian, 14-year-old Amari Peterson, and 21-year-old Susano Archuleta.
Burna Boy said he would gladly cover the costs of all four funerals. He told TMZ it was "the very least he can do, considering the lifetime of pain the parents face ahead."
The alleged gunman is still on the loose. There's currently a $25,000 reward for any information that will lead to his arrest.
