Over 1.5 Million Bags Of Popular Shredded Cheese Recalled

Great Lakes Cheese Co. has issued a recall of more than 1.5 million bags of shredded cheese because they may be contaminated with pieces of metal fragments. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) elevated the recall to a Class I, which means that the product "may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences."

The recalled products include various bags of cheese blends sold at major retailers in the United States, including Target, Walmart, Aldi, and Publix. The cheese was sold under dozens of different brand names including, Always Save, Borden, Brookshire’s, Happy Farms by Aldi, and Hill Country Fare. They have sell-by dates between January and March 2026.

The FDA has advised customers not to eat the recalled bags of cheese. Consumers should either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
