12/5/25 Blog: CHSAA Settles, Bubbles For the Holiday, And Get Ready To Sign
December 5, 2025
CHSAA SETTLES ON BOYS IN GIRLS SPORTS And this is just the first round as districts like D49 in Colorado Springs refuse to allow fundamental unfairness to harm girls. According to the settlement reached and announced yesterday, D49 and its co-plaintiffs will be allowed to do the following:
• Maintain separate sports teams for biological boys and girls.
• Keep locker rooms and overnight travel accommodations separated by biological sex.
• Avoid CHSAA-imposed penalties for upholding these policies.
• Comply with Title IX and the U.S. Constitution while rejecting mandates that put student privacy at risk.
All of which is perfectly NORMAL (more on that later in the blog). They are still suing the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, and the Attorney General and will continue moving forward with that part of the suit. I've got D49 Superintendent Peter Hilts on at 12:30 to talk about it. Read their announcement below.
YOU NEED TO SIGN THESE PETITIONS Erin Lee from Protect Kids Colorado is on today at 1:30 to talk about some pop up signing events for the three ballot initiatives they are gathering signatures for. Find out more about those petitions at the bottom of this page, and below is the info about where you can sign.
THE WINE YOGI POPS IN TO TALK BUBBLES And she joins me at 2:30 to talk how to celebrate the holidays well. Find her blog and lots of great info on her website here, where she does a deep dive on the history of champagne that is super interesting.
SPEAKING OF NORMAL This is an absolute fantastic column and a great way to explain why everything feels like we've entered Crazy Town half the time. There is a concerted effort to trash the concept of "normal". It's working.
CU ANSCHUTZ SCHOOL OF MEDICINE WILL PONY UP 10 MILLION BUCKS To eighteen plaintiffs who sued when they were denied religious mandates to the school's covid vaccine mandates. The school adopted vaccine mandates that allowed for religious exemptions, but narrowed those exemptions to certain religions only. I hope this is the first in a long line of lawsuits won by people punished by overzealous bureaucrats. The school admits no wrongdoing in mandating the vaccines, by the way. They issued this a statement that said this:
“While some chose to challenge the policy, the evidence remains clear: vaccination was essential to protecting the vulnerable, keeping hospitals open, and sustaining education and research,” the spokesperson added.
Yeah, nope. We should have vaccinated those at high risk and let everyone else choose their own path, period.
THE GREAT COLORADO SLOWDOWN IS HAPPENING And the Denver Gazette is doing a great series on how our economy went from one of the best in the nation to just sort of limping along. Read the details here, but note that the decline really started to take hold when Democrats took complete control over our governance. That is not a coincidence, it's the consequence of when you elevate anti-business, anti-landlord, anti-reliable energy people into power positions. Again, this should be the campaign platform for Republicans in the mid terms.
COLORADO TEACHERS CAN GET SOME UNION DUES BACK But they have to take action before December 15th. You only can get back $49 and I know maybe that seems like it's not worth it, but if you hate the candidates they support this is the only way to express your disapproval, as that money is the money they donate to causes or candidates. Find out more here.
ANOTHER DOWNTOWN BUILDING IS FORECLOSED ON As downtown vacancy rates hit over 38% another office tower has taken back the keys from the owner. Read it here.
THE CITY OF DENVER WAS WARNED ABOUT BUYING THE DENVER POST BUILDING A veteran real estate broker says he warned the City of Denver that buying the Denver Post building for $290 a square foot was a dumb idea. William Lucas, managing director with Cushman Wakefield, an international real estate company, sent a letter to the Mayor and the City Council telling them it was a dumb deal. From CBS Denver:
In the two-page letter, Lucas told elected officials "There will be many more attractive economical options in the next few years, which most likely will include 101 W Colfax (Denver Post building) but at a better price point. I cannot fathom a strategy that supports paying $290 per square foot for 101 West Colfax," wrote Lucas.
We know of course Lucas was 100% right on this and now the City is holding the bag and the Denver Post has stopped paying rent on offices they vacated years ago. This Mayor sucks at business, he sucks at listening to anyone outside his bubble, and shame on the City Council for going along with this idiocy. Shame on them all.
COAL WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP THE LIGHTS ON The Comanche 2 coal fired power plant will continue operation for another year instead of being decommissioned at the end of this month. Why? Because the Comanche 3 plant went down and we don't have enough energy. From the Governor's office:
“Due to an unexpected breakdown of one of Colorado’s coal plant units, the administration is working to keep energy production stable and protect consumers from winter energy cost spikes by keeping another unit in operation for one year beyond its anticipated closure date,” a statement from the Governor’s Office said. The state obtained roughly 43% of its energy from renewable sources in 2024 and is “well on its way to achieving 100% clean energy.”
Quick question, what happens when the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow? How do we "keep energy production stable" then? I'm asking seriously. Anyone? Anyone?
BONGINO ISN'T PAID FOR OPINIONS NOW and he's had to walk back his former podcast host comments about the January 6th pipe bomb being an inside government job. You know why I don't come out and say dumbass things I have no evidence for? This. This is why. He now says he was "paid for opinions" and he's not now, which is true, but shouldn't those opinions be based in some kind of reality? And let's get to the horrible Candace Owens. She wasn't always horrible, or if she was she certainly hid it, but she's such a grifter now I feel sorry for people who get sucked into her nonsense. Case in point, she has been ragging Turning Point USA and saying they turned on Charlie Kirk and are somehow responsible for his death. She made this statement:
Candace’s own words from her show literally from last night:
— Woke Societies (@wokesocieties) December 4, 2025
“You can pick the place, you can pick the time.”
TPUSA gives her a time and place and she can’t do it.
HER OWN WORDS!
She’s a liar and a con artist. pic.twitter.com/TTRn10fCIU
So TPUSA did. They picked a time and a place and when they invited her she complained about every aspect and refused to show up. She's getting absolutely roasted online for it now. Stop paying attention to attention whores who bring nothing to the table.
ARE YOU WOOKING FOR LOVE? Oh my, there is a new dating show coming to Denver and I'm not sure it's going to be a good look for us. Still reeling from the disastrous season of Love is Blind that was filmed here, we now get a dating show that caters to the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival goer. Read this:
The Denver show have contestants arrive at the Morrison villa in dusty Subarus to a festival-like setting where couples and throuples will navigate festival-themed challenges, such as flow art choreography for poi, hoops and fans, stage production and performance, dancing on the rail until sunrise and more.
The show will involve common electronic dance music festival activities like car camping, “vibing under the Colorado sky,” and visiting local iconic places like Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre and Casa Bonita.
I will withhold my opinion on whether this will make us look good pending more information. I am not hopeful.
THE JOB MARKET IS IN A HOLDING PATTERN With jobless claims dropping last week, but hiring being very sluggish. Companies are in sort of a holding pattern, waiting to see what's going to happen next. Read more here.

NO, WORDS ARE NOT VIOLENCE And they never will be. Unfortunately, college students today don't understand ACTUAL violence and believe overwhelmingly that words CAN be violence. Okay, come break my arm with your words. I dare you.
GREAT QUESTION, MSNBCNOW I'd love to know the answer.
MSNBC says the quiet part out loud:

“Why didn’t analysts and investigators at the FBI sorta connect the dots earlier when [the pipe bomber]’s information was already in evidence the FBI had in hand, and mostly evidence it collected in 2021 and 2022?”
Hmmm. Why didn’t Biden’s… pic.twitter.com/2CYiut5t8D

THE MOST DEMONIC THING TO EVER COME OUT OF THE PRO ABORTION MOVEMENT And I call the disgusting team behind Shout Your Abortion as not pro choice, they are pro abortion. How do I know? Well let's start with this.
🧵THREAD: A new “children’s book” called Abortion Is Everything is being marketed to 5–8 year olds to “speak directly” to them about abortion.
— Jenna Ellis 🐊 (@realJennaEllis) December 3, 2025
Yes, you read that correctly.
And the book is downright evil. pic.twitter.com/PRwc36BNbN
IT IS A CHILDREN'S BOOK THAT CALLS ABORTION A SUPER POWER. WHAT THE ACTUAL YOU KNOW WHAT????
PANTONE HAS JUST GIVEN UP Every year the "color experts" at Pantone (I really don't know what Pantone is) decide what the Color of The Year for the next year will be, and this year, it's just...white. Sure, it's a kind of white called Cloud Dancer, but it's white. Okay then.
FURNACES AND WATER HEATERS WILL COST MORE NEXT YEAR Because the new rules that require them to be Low NOx. Here is an article on that. Here are some of the issues with Low Nox furnaces at high altitude you should know about:
Primary Issues
- Incomplete Combustion: At higher altitudes, the air is less dense and contains less oxygen needed for the combustion process. Furnaces designed for sea-level operation will have an incorrect fuel-to-air ratio (too much fuel for the available air) unless adjusted, leading to incomplete burning of the gas.
- Safety Hazards: Incomplete combustion significantly increases the production of carbon monoxide (CO), a dangerous and potentially lethal gas. This poses a major safety concern if the system is not properly calibrated.
- Reduced Efficiency and Output: The lack of sufficient oxygen means the furnace produces less heat and operates less efficiently than its sea-level rating suggests. This can lead to higher utility bills as the system runs longer and works harder to maintain the desired temperature.
- System Overheating and Short Cycling: If the fuel input is not reduced (derated) for the altitude, the furnace can overfire, leading to overheating or short cycling, where the furnace quickly turns on and off.
- Increased Wear and Premature Failure: The added strain of working harder to compensate for thin air puts stress on internal components like motors, fans, and heat exchangers, which can shorten the overall lifespan of the furnace.
- Potential Flame Harmonics: In some ultra-low NOx models, flame harmonics (loud noises or vibrations) can occur if not properly set up for the specific environmental conditions.
Solutions and Considerations
- Professional Adjustment (Derating): Any gas furnace installed at elevations typically above 2,000 feet requires professional modification to adjust the gas flow and air-to-fuel ratio. This involves installing a high-altitude conversion kit (which may include different orifices or pressure switch changes) and adjusting gas pressure settings.
- Manufacturer Compliance: Homeowners should check that the specific furnace model is certified by the manufacturer for operation at their elevation, as using a furnace outside its specified altitude range may void the warranty.
- Specialized Systems: Manufacturers have made progress in developing specific ultra-low NOx furnaces that are compliant and function effectively in high-altitude environments, with some models designed to work up to 7,500-7,800 feet with minor or no modifications.
- Regular Maintenance: Routine inspections and maintenance, including combustion efficiency testing and filter changes, are crucial for safe and efficient operation in high-altitude areas.
