Luke Combs Debuts Moving Ballad About A Groom, Father-In-Law On Wedding Day

Luke Combs debuted an emotional new song on Friday (December 5).

“Giving Her Away,” written by Gary Garris, Josh Mirenda and Josh Phillips, serves as a letter from a groom to his father-in-law. Combs sings on the sentimental track: “Only she coulda got us both in suits/ Only she coulda got us out our boots/ Fightin’ back every tear that we both knew/ We were gonna cry today/ Neither one of us knows what to do/ Standin’ up in front of a crowded room/ On a springtime Saturday afternoon/ With both our lives about to change/ Man, you brought your baby/ I brought a ring/ And I’m giving her my name/ And you’re giving her away.”

Combs released “Giving Her Away” after he delivered The Prequel, a 3-track collection that includes “My Kinda Saturday Night,” “15 Minutes” and “Days Like These.” Combs admitted at the time that he felt “nervous to see what you guys think about it,” as he released new music; however, “I’m really confident in these songs that we’ve recorded and I know that you guys have been waiting for music for a long time. …It’s just wild. It’s just wild. Time flies, and it feels like I’ve been doing this forever and for six months at the same time, if that makes any sense.”

The “Back in the Saddle” hitmaker’s latest full studio album is Fathers & Sons, a heartfelt project that offered a glimpse of Combs’ life as a dad to two young boys. He and his wife, Nicole Combs, share sons Tex Lawrence Combs, who was born in June 2022, and Beau Lee Combs, born in August 2023. They announced earlier this year that Nicole is pregnant with Baby No. 3. Nicole previously shared that “we’re actually not finding out the gender this time! We are extremely happy either way, so why not be surprised 😍🩵💗” When asked by an Instagram user whether she wants more babies, Nicole replied, ““’m baking one as we speak! 4 would be cute though.”

Combs will kick off his headlining “My Kinda Saturday Night Tour” in 2026. Special guests Dierks Bentley, The Script, The Teskey Brothers, Thomas Rhett, Ty Myers, Jake Worthington, Thelma & James and The Castellows are set to join the tour on select dates.
