Just One Thing: Trump's latest farmer bailout

Check out this headline: White House unveils $12 billion plan for U.S. farmers hit by trade war

And this one: White House announces $12 billion farmer bailout package - POLITICO

Or this one: Trump’s $12 Billion Bailout Is No Remedy for Farmers Caught in Trade War – Foreign Policy

And this one: Trump farm bailout: Farmers getting $12B after trade war pain

The first and third are from 2018. The second and fourth are from yesterday.

Some people say “history doesn’t repeat, but it rhymes.” This seems more like someone pushing the repeat button.

I recently had the opportunity to visit the Aurora Regional Navigation Campus, which aims to help the homeless with anything from shelter for a night to job-training and long-term support including a place to live for an extended period. I was incredibly impressed by not just the expertise of the folks running the place but by how deeply they care and by how much they've thought of to help their guests/clients. For example, many homeless people have pets (especially dogs) who are very important parts of their lives. The Navigation Campus has a doggie day care and will likely have veterinary services available.

It's a very large place, a former hotel and convention center, configured to help hundreds of people in different levels of care and support.

We'll be joined by Andrew Bogage from Advance Pathways, the organization contracted to operate the Navigation Campus, along with one of their clients (about whom, at this writing, I don't know anything about.)

I encourage you to contribute today, on Colorado Gives Day, where every dollar donated will result in more than a dollar reaching your intended non-profit: Advance Pathways | ColoradoGives.org

Wow. Remarkable to see Republicans standing up to the Trump administration, although in this case it's more against Hegseth than against Trump himself: Congress to withhold Pentagon travel funds until it sees boat strike videos - POLITICO

Republicans are playing this up as just another example of the lunatic leftists in the Democratic Party. And they're not wrong but it's a stupid point to make. Not just because everybody knows, not just because the GOP has their own fringe kooks, but also because she's going to lose the Democratic primary in a landslide: Democratic state senator launches bid as “insurgent progressive” to unseat Colorado’s John Hickenlooper - The Colorado Sun

We can debate whether these chips should be sold to China but Trump extracting a 25% tax on them is outrageous. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, the definition of economic fascism is a government making nominally private companies operate on behalf of the state. Trump is, without doubt, by this definition, a fascist, and he proves it every day: Nvidia Gets US Approval for H200 AI Chip Exports to China - Bloomberg

This is exactly what he should say. Trump has screwed this up from the very beginning due to his desire to be Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy says Ukraine won’t cede territory to Russia

It may well end up -- probably will -- that Ukraine ends up "permanently" losing territory but there should be much more in a final result for Ukraine than the Trump plan offers. The question is whether Europe has the capability and the will to backstop Ukraine enough to pressure Russia if the mercurial Trump decides not to help more. The right move for Trump is to (indirectly) provide long-range weapons to Ukraine. It is simply the only way to get the murderous sociopathic dictator Putin to even think about a more balanced settlement of the war.

She's the MTG of the left. Just as ignorant, just as loud, just as annoying, and going to get crushed in the general election (though there's a decent chance she wins the primary.)

Rep. Jasmine Crockett launches Senate run in Texas, shaking up Democratic primary

This is the would-be senator: Rep. Crockett criticized over comment mocking Greg Abbott

An interesting video to launch the campaign which will be all (against) Trump, all the time. I'd be surprised if she spends more than half of her campaign talking about actual issues or even her opponent, though if Ken Paxton who is a corrupt wing-nut beats John Cornyn in the primary, she may go after him...and he'll obviously go after her.

This is who she is. Republicans must be soooo happy that she jumped in. As Leland Vittert put it, "she reminds me a lot of Herschel Walker or Doug Mastriano" (two utterly unelectable candidates in recent elections.)

I REALLY despise the president extracting a bribe (even if it's for the government, not for himself) to allow an American company to sell a product. Either it should be OK to sell (to China) or it isn't. It shouldn't be based on extortion: Nvidia Gets US Approval for H200 AI Chip Exports to China - Bloomberg
