How Katy Perry's Relationship With Justin Trudeau Became 'Something Real'

Katy Perry's new romance with Justin Trudeau may have come as a surprise to some but it has become "something real."

An insider recently told People that Perry is "excited" to be dating the former Canadian prime minister and has been "flattered" that Trudeau has "made such a big effort" to spend time with her amid their blossoming romance. Perry and Trudeau made their first public outing in October when he joined her in Paris for her 41st birthday.

"He's shown her over and over again that he genuinely wants to see her," the source said. "He's flown all over the world to spend time with her while she toured. She likes spending time with him."

The relationship appears to be even more special as it wasn't something she was looking for when they first sparked romance rumors in July. Perry split from former fiancé Orlando Bloom this summer after eight years together and welcoming one child, 5-year-old daughter Daisy. However, Trudeau's persistence seemingly endeared him to the "bandaids" singer.

"The only reason this turned into something real is because Justin has been so persistent," the source said. "She wasn't looking to date when they first hung out and she certainly wasn't looking for a boyfriend."

The couple went Instagram official this week, hard launching their relationship when Perry shared several snapshots from her time on the road for her Lifetimes tour, including close pics of her and Trudeau enjoying time together in Tokyo.
