A Conversation Parents Have to Have With Their Kids

December 11, 2025

The stabbing of a teenage girl by a teenage boy inside a classroom at San Ysidro High School this week has to have parents asking what is going on?

The incident prompted a lockdown at the school as police searched and caught the kid who stabbed her.

And it brought to mind other incidents this year at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista for instance someone fired shots in the air at a nearby park and forced a lockdown there.

And there have been numerous cases of school lockdowns after reports of someone with a gun even a half mile away or more from a school.

Sadly, but obviously necessary, instructions are taught to students for what to do when a lockdown happens.

Talking with a parent just this week with a son who’s a student at a high school in San Diego, he shared his thoughts about having a conversation with his teenage son after a lockdown happened after reports of someone possibly with a gun blocks away from the school.

It was a conversation this dad said that he never had with his parents years ago when he was in high school.

But that’s what parents have to do these days to make sure their son or daughter knows what to do to keep them safe during these times of lockdowns happening far too often.
