December 12, 2025

Today's Guests

Ben Allbright is KOA's Broncos Insider and host of Broncos Country Tonight (weeknights 6 PM to 11 PM) here on KOA. We'll preview this Sunday's Broncos-Packers game and discuss why the 11-2 Broncos are roughly 2-point underdogs (at home) to the 9-3-1 Packers.

.

Rep Jeff Hurd (R-Grand Junction) represents Colorado's 4th Congressional District, covering a huge swath of western and southern Colorado. We'll discuss two bills that he sponsored that both recently passed the House, and at least one of which already passed the Senate and will go to the president to become law.

I know that some Trump-haters are framing this as the AI industry essentially buying government policy. And they surely are very powerful with unlimited amounts of money to spend lobbying and supporting politicians. But I actually think this is sensible policy. It's similar to there being a federal law that limits what states can do with their own energy policies because of the massive disruption to the industry/industries of trying to comply with different regs in different states. That said, going this route requires some confidence in reasonable federal regulation, which is not generally a thing one should assume. And which can change wildly from one administration to another. It's also worth noting that this order may exceed the authority of a president and may be overturned in court. The administration is overstating with the CO law does, though to be clear I think the CO law will cause more problems than benefits and is ill-considered: https://chatgpt.com/share/693bfb71-31a0-8010-8e1a-a1feaf95e43d

Congratulations to Indiana Senate Republicans for showing some spine and standing up against Trump and their own governor who was steamrolled by Trump. One does wonder if this is the latest (and one of the biggest) example of Trump slightly losing his iron grip on the GOP.

This will put serious pressure on the Venezuelan government and, unlike the drug boat strikes, is almost certainly legal (as long as the ships are sanctioned for transporting Iranian or Russian or Venezuelan oil).
