Back in October, Mel C released her latest single "Sweat," which features a Diana Ross sample, and opened up about the legendary feature during a backstage interview at this year's iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Ball presented by Capital One.

"Sweat" is a playful yet sophisticated introduction to her forthcoming album, set to be released on May 1st, 2026. What makes the song especially exciting is a nod to a true music icon: Diana Ross. "There’s a fantastic sample from the beautiful and wonderful Diana Ross — I have a sample from 'Work That Body,'" Mel C revealed. "All these things have just come together and created this. For me, it's a bit of a new sound, but I feel like it’s the right sound for me."

The single also reflects Mel C’s personal growth and experience as a DJ. “I wanted to have a little bit more fun with my music. I’ve been DJing for about eight years now, so I wanted to bring my pop music a bit closer to the house music that I play when I’m out in the clubs,” she said. By blending her pop roots with Diana Ross-inspired grooves and contemporary house influences, "Sweat" bridges generations of dance music while staying true to her iconic style.

Even in the midst of the holiday season, Mel C keeps her focus on music and connection with fans. From traditional UK turkey dinners to exploring New York’s food scene with her daughter, she balances festive moments with her artistic projects. “It’s a beautiful time to get together and be with your family and friends,” she said.

To relive the holiday magic, iHeartRadio is partnering with ABC to bring the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour to even more fans across the country, as an exclusive network special will be aired on December 17th and next day on Hulu.
