Myles Smith Recalls Hilarious Fame Realization: 'I'm A Cookie Monster!'

Myles Smith has had an incredible 2025 and ended the year on a jolly note at this year's iHeartRadio Z100 Jingle Ball presented by Capital One. Speaking with Z100's Danielle and Gandhi from the Mercedes-Benz Interview Lounge, the breakout star reflected on his journey, his international hit "Stargazing," and how he's navigating life in the spotlight.

“It’s wild, isn’t it? I mean, I wrote this song sort of in the middle of nowhere with some friends, not thinking it would turn into the song that it has,” Myles shared, reflecting on the creation of "Stargazing," which became an international success. "It’s really awesome to know people love it to this day."

The star also recounted a funny moment that made him realize he was gaining fame — when he jokingly asked his audience for cookies and, to his surprise, they delivered. "I still don’t call myself famous, but I call myself a cookie monster,” he laughed. "I never thought cookies would arrive at a request on Instagram. It was a pretty weird thing, but I loved it."

Myles’ charm shone through as he spoke about collaborations and friendships in the industry. “I would love to collaborate with all the artists on the bill. They’re all so amazing. I love my pookie, Alex Warren — he’s one of my best friends. I love Ed Sheeran too,” he revealed.

When asked about the creative process behind "Stargazing," Myles recalled writing it in Malibu, a place he jokingly described as “the middle of nowhere” because he saw only three people in 10 days. “It was beautiful, and it was so amazing to create a song in that environment, and for it to be as beautiful as the scene we were looking at,” he said.

Before music, Miles led a successful career in business, running a management consultancy. But his lifelong passion for music ultimately won out. “I always wanted to do music, but I had the most stereotypical and wonderful black mother who said, ‘Boy, you better go to school and get your qualifications,’” he said. “I did that, and then I pivoted because I’ve always loved music. Having the freedom after a successful job gave me the opportunity to do it.”

The holiday season was also on his mind, as Miles shared his cherished traditions. “I make sure I’m with my family every single year. There’s no contention or competition for family time — I always make that space free for them,” he said. Experiencing the festive spirit in New York City was a treat, he noted. “It’s so much bigger here. You feel Christmas walking. The weather makes it very Christmasy instantly. Gosh, I had to buy a jacket today. I did not anticipate it being this cold.”

To relive the holiday magic, iHeartRadio is partnering with ABC to bring the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour to even more fans across the country, as an exclusive network special will be aired on December 17th and next day on Hulu.
