A passenger was arrested after allegedly attempting to open a plane door mid-flight on a Cathay Pacific flight from Boston to Hong Kong. The incident occurred on Wednesday (December 10) on Flight CX811. The passenger, a 20-year-old male identified by the surname Zhang, was taken into custody by Hong Kong police upon landing.

The cabin crew quickly responded to the situation, ensuring the door remained securely closed and reporting the incident to authorities. No injuries were reported, and the flight landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport ahead of schedule.

Cathay Pacific confirmed the incident, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and crew is their top priority. The case has been handed over to the police for further investigation. As per Hong Kong's Aviation Security Ordinance, tampering with aircraft components is a serious offense.

The suspect is from mainland China and was arrested for violating aviation security laws. The airline reiterated its commitment to safety and cooperation with the investigation.

This incident follows a similar event in September when a Hong Kong Airlines flight had an emergency exit accidentally opened after landing, with no injuries reported.
