Dierks Bentley played a throwback ballad as he marked two decades since its debut.

The singer-songwriter, who turned 50 last month, posted his rendition of “Settle For A Slowdown” on Sunday (December 14). Bentley wrote in his caption on Instagram, “how has it been 20 years since we put this one out?!” The song was one of 11 tracks to appear on Bentley’s second studio album, Modern Day Drifter, in 2005. The project also included “Lot Of Leavin’ Left To Do,” “Come A Little Closer,” the title track and more.

“But your wheels just turn down the road ahead/ If it hurts at all, you ain't showed it yet/ I keep lookin' for the slightest sign/ That you might miss what you left behind/ I know there's nothin' stoppin' you now/ But I'd settle for a slowdown”

Bentley, who is part of the Nashville New Year's Eve lineup, has become known for “What Was I Thinkin’,” “Sideways,” “Free And Easy (Down The Road I Go),” “Somewhere On A Beach,” “Drunk On A Plane,” “5-1-5-0,” and more. His latest studio album, Broken Branches, arrived earlier this year, the 13-track record includes “Cold Beer Can” with Stephen Wilson Jr.,” “She Hates Me,” the title track with John Anderson and Riley Green, “Never You” with Miranda Lambert, “IYKYK” and more.
