Rolling Stones Cancel 2026 Tour Plans

The Rolling Stones have reportedly decided to cancel their plans for a 2026 stadium tour across the United Kingdom and Europe.
According to a source close to the band, as reported by Variety, the decision follows guitarist Keith Richards' inability to commit to the tour due to health concerns. Richards, who turns 82 on Thursday (December 18), has been dealing with arthritis, which has affected his ability to perform for extended periods.
Although the tour was never officially announced, the band's touring pianist Chuck Leavell and a spokesperson recently indicated that the group was nearing the completion of a new album. The album, produced by Andrew Watt, is the band's second collaboration with the 35-year-old producer. Despite Richards' health challenges, he delivered a strong performance during a brief set at the Soho Sessions in New York last month. However, a full-scale tour presents a much greater challenge.
An unnamed spokesperson told British tabloid The Sun that the band initially considered touring earlier this year but could not make it work. The spokesperson added, "The Stones will get back onstage when they're good and ready."
The Rolling Stones have been touring almost every year since the early 2000s, albeit with shorter itineraries. The band's most recent tour, the "Hackney Diamonds" Tour, spanned 20 North American dates over three months. The new album is expected to be released next year, with Watt bringing renewed energy to the group. Mick Jagger expressed his enthusiasm for working with Watt, stating, "He has such infectious enthusiasm and a great work ethic."
