Shenseea is doing everything possible to give back to her home country of Jamaica after the island was devastated by Hurricane Melissa.

The Alpha artist personally funded a major effort to donate food and emergency supplies to Jamaican families in need. Shenseea put together more than 5,000 packages filled with food, clean water, shelter materials, household essentials, and emergency supplies, and distributed them to citizens who needed them the most. The packages consist of thousands of pounds of nutritious food, essential household items, and critical emergency supplies from Restaurant Depot, Sam’s Club, Uline, Home Depot, and Lowe’s.

“Jamaica raised me, and whenever my country is hurting, I feel it deeply," Shenseea said in a statement. "I wanted to act quickly and give families what they need right now: food, clean water, shelter, and basic essentials. This is home, and I’ll always show up for my people."

Sheensea donated over 7,000 pounds of rice, 5,000 pounds of flour, cornmeal, sugar, oats, and beans. The packages also included vegetable and corn oil, salt, and other pantry items. She also provided hundreds of cases filled with cup o' noodles, mac & cheese, tinned mackerel, tuna, sardines, corned beef, and condensed milk as well as 700 gallons of water and more than 1,100 bottles of 16.9 oz water.

In addition, the Jamaican-born artist provided household items including toothpaste, bar soap, toothbrushes, Always pads, flushable wipes. She also gave out more than 1,200 diapers of various sizes and cleaning supplies like paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, bleach, foil, trash bags, and foam plates. She also provided shopping bags, 300 tarps, six portable generators and five emergency tents.

Shenseea is just one of several artists who have coordinated efforts to help the people of Jamaica. Shaggy, Sean Paul, Ky-Mani Marley, Inner Circle, Marcia Griffiths, KES, Maxi Priest, Richie Stephens, T.O.K and others performed at the sold-out Jamaica Strong Benefit Concert in New York City. The sold-out show helped raise funds for the island while uniting some of the Caribbean's biggest artists. All proceeds will go towards organizations that are dedicated to rebuilding cities on the island.
