Teen Arrested After Planting Phony Bomb At School
(St. Johns County, FL)--- A Pacetti Bay Middle School student is facing charges after he allegedly planted a fake bomb on campus. The unidentified 13-year-old was arrested Wednesday. Deputies learned he brought a fake explosive device and showed it to other students in school. He allegedly later hid the device from school administrators, where it was later found in the school gym.
DOJ Indictments In Illegal Adderall Distribution Scheme
(Washington, DC)-- The Department of Justice is going after a Florida medical practice for illegal distribution of Adderall. The DOJ says it was a years-long one-hundred-million-dollar scheme to market the drug, which is often prescribed to patients with ADHD, to people who don't need it. Mindful Mental Wellness in St. Petersburg, have been hit with multiple charges including conspiracy to commit health care fraud. The indictment claims they conspired with a California telehealth firm to illegally distribute over 40-million Adderall pills through aggressively promoting monthly online subscriptions.
Florida CFO Pushes New Bills To Increase Local Spending Oversight
(Undated) -- Florida's chief financial officer is calling for new legislation aimed at increasing oversight and transparency in how local governments spend taxpayer money. Blaise Ingoglia says audits have identified about two-billion dollars in overspending across eleven cities and counties, including roughly 344-million dollars in Palm Beach County, though local officials dispute those figures. The proposals would add whistleblower protections, expand access to public records, and require annual efficiency reports.
Arrest Made In Bizarre Case
(Biloxi, MS) -- A Texas woman is accused of putting razor blades into loafs of bread. The discovery was made at two Walmarts in Biloxi, Mississippi. Police would not give any clues as to why they think Camille Benson did it. She is charged with attempted mayhem. Her bond has been set at 100-thousand dollars.Walmart, in a statement, thanked police and said that they have "removed and thoroughly inspected all potentially affected products." Police say there were no injuries from the incident.
