An alternate angle video appears to show a Detroit Lions fan admitting that he baited Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf into throwing a punch at him.
The clip, which was shared by TikTok user @epicwander, shows Ryan Kennedy saying "that was the goal" after Metcalf threw a punch at him. Additionally, Metcalf, then a member of the Seattle Seahawks, had previously reported the fan to team security during a previous incident, a source confirmed to ESPN's Brady Henderson, with the Seahawks having played at Ford Field in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Metcalf was suspended two games for the incident, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported on Monday (December 22).

"The NFL is suspending Steelers WR DK Metcalf two games without pay for physically confronting a Lions fan during Sunday’s win at Detroit, per sources. Metcalf, who had reported the same fan to security last season, plans to appeal," Pelissero wrote on his X account.

Kennedy, of Pinckney, Michigan, claimed Metcalf attacked him after he called him by his full "government name" during the Steelers' 29-24 win against the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday (December 21). The fan initially referred to himself as the "Biggest Detroit Lions Fan Ever that got attacked by DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf" before revealing his own name and details about the incident.
“What, my full name isn’t is DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf," Kennedy said via the Detroit Free Press. "He doesn’t like his government name. I called him that and then he grabbed me and ripped my shirt. I’m a little shocked. Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little rattled, but I just want the Lions to win, baby."

The CBS Sports live broadcast showed Metcalf talking to Kennedy, who was wearing a blue wig, holding a yellow jersey and hanging over a railing before appearing to throw a punch with a closed right fist and walking away, with Kennedy throwing his hands up after appearing to be struck by Metcalf.
"[Metcalf] came over because the fan in the stands was holding a 'For Pittsburgh' jersey," said CBS Sports sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson of the incident. "He went over and the fan said something to him, obviously. Metcalf did not like what he said and you saw the swipe there. No Steelers came over to him and mentioned anything."
The incident took place after the Steelers' offense struggled early, totaling just 68 yards on their first four possessions. Metcalf was held to just one catch in the first half, having re-entered the game on Pittsburgh's ensuing offensive possession after the incident with the fan.
The NFL previously released a statement regarding the incident claiming it couldn't intervene for an ejection.
“There was no flag on the field, so New York cannot weigh in with regard to a potential disqualification,” the league said via the Detroit Free Press.
