Cyril Zattara, a 47-year-old dance teacher and self-proclaimed hypnotherapist, is on trial in Aix-en-Provence, France, accused of drugging and raping 14 women over a decade. The trial, held behind closed doors, involves charges of rape and secretly filming around 20 women without their knowledge. Zattara has admitted to 10 rape charges.

The alleged crimes took place between July 2010 and March 2021, with Zattara reportedly using powerful drugs to sedate his victims, often women he knew personally or through his dance school. According to a BBC report, investigators found photos and videos on Zattara's computer showing victims in a lethargic state.

One victim, who filed a complaint in 2019, recounted drinking wine offered by Zattara and later waking up with fragmented memories of being raped. Her toxicology results confirmed the presence of sleep-inducing drugs, and Zattara's DNA was found on her clothing.

The trial has also brought attention to two other women who accused Zattara in 2003, but their cases could not be prosecuted due to the statute of limitations. One of these women expressed frustration, saying, "He destroyed my life, and if I had been believed [in 2003], he would not have destroyed the lives of other girls."

The trial is expected to last at least two weeks, with victims seeking justice and closure for the alleged crimes committed by Zattara.
