January 8, 2026

THE LATEST TECH IS ALL OUT AT THE CES The Consumer Electronics Show is underway in Las Vegas and it seems to me from the coverage this year's event is all about robotic tech. We'll find out when I speak with Jennifer Drogus, CTA Vice President of Global Event Communications for the Consumer Electronics Show today at 1. We'll find out what the future of tech is today.

MICHELLE ZELLNER WANTS TO HELP WITH YOUR VISION And I don't mean your eyesight, I mean your vision for 2026. She's having her annual Virtual Vision Board event this weekend and if you've been thinking about how to focus your life in any area you want to do this. Find out all the details here, she joins me at 2:30 to talk about what it is and why she does it. Plus, we'll chat with her about the story below too.

RFK MAKES REAL FOOD GREAT AGAIN There is a new food pyramid in town, and probably for the first time ever, it isn't being made by food company lobbyists. RFK's new food pyramid does something radical, it tells people to eat real food. AMAZING. Here are the new dietary guidelines in a nutshell:

Prioritize protein at every meal
Consume full-fat dairy with no added sugars
Eat vegetables and fruits throughout the day, focusing on whole forms
Incorporate healthy fats from whole foods such as meats, seafood, eggs, nuts, seeds, olives, and avocados
Focus on whole grains, while sharply reducing refined carbohydrates
Limit highly processed foods, added sugars, and artificial additives
Eat the right amount for you, based on age, sex, size, and activity level
Choose water and unsweetened beverages to support hydration
Limit alcohol consumption for better overall health

So simple and yet so accurate. Find the entire presentation by clicking here. Here it is in visual form:

WOMAN KILLED BY HHS IS FROM COLORADO And has a six year old child, which is heartbreaking. You can read more about what is known so far here, but this story is going to be unfolding for a while.

BORDER CZAR TOM HOMAN IS THE VOICE OF REASON And I think this is the right move. Yesterday I saw the videos and was quick to say this is a horrible situation that looks like an ICE agent was hit by a car while trying to engage a woman who used her car to block the road to prevent ICE agents from doing their work. But I also recognize that based on your political ideology you could see a much different story in those videos. Watch Tom Homan say we're waiting for the full investigation here.

THERE MAY BE AN OVERRIDE OF TRUMP'S VETO ON COLORADO'S WATER PROJECT As politicians are trying to shore up their credentials for voters back home there are two vetoes that may come up for an override vote, one of them affecting Colorado. Rep. Lauren Boebert's bill to that would move funding for a rural water project mostly to the feds is one them. Both the bills passed in a bipartisan, uncontroversial way and would probably get a positive vote to override Trump's veto. We'll see if enough Republicans are brave enough to do that.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE NATIONAL WESTERN STOCK SHOW Guys, this thing is cool, first of all, especially if you've got city kids or ARE a city kid. You can see all sorts of animals close up and find out a lot more about one of the largest industries in our state. Find out all the details, starting with the parade route that will see a bunch of massive steers trot down our downtown streets by clicking here. The official stock show site with all the info is here.

HEY 270 DRIVERS, YOU NEED TO LET CDOT KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS As they try to figure out how to make the thoroughfare better they are asking for public comment. Now's your chance to say your piece, although I'm not sure this CDOT will listen to common sense like BUILD MORE LANES, which is what I would say. Find out where to do that here.

WOULD BANNING CORPORATE OWNERSHIP OF HOMES MOVE HOUSING PRICES? I have mixed feelings about President Trump's announcement yesterday that he would move to ban large ownership positions of single family homes by corporations but only because I'm not sure exactly how widespread this sort of ownership actually is. I do know that investing in these real estate holdings is good for investors, but are they creating a housing shortage? My guess is no, as I'm far more likely to believe government regulations and permitting delays have more to do with it. But again, I don't know. Read this and let me know what you think. According to this left wing think tank report, just 5.5% of single family homes are owned by corporate investors, and that doesn't seem like that much. But what if it were 10%? Or 15%? I think this is a problem, but not nearly as big a problem as this makes it seem.

THIS AS THE DENVER MARKET HAS SLOWED And this report on the market shows a couple of things. The median price dipped a tiny bit, homes are taking longer to sell, and the high end market is ready to rip.

PHIL WEISER KEEPS DECLARING VICTORY WHEN IT'S NOT REALLY And Corey Gaines has written about the semanitical wins that Weiser keeps crowing about here.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT GREENLAND? That's what Marco Rubio is saying to Denmark as the two nations meet to discuss the future of the frozen state at the top of the world. The US wants it because of it's strategic position, but Denmark doesn't seem willing to part with it. Why don't we ask the 56,800 people who live there what they want to do?

OBAMACARE TAX CREDITS MAY BE GETTING A VOTE SOON As Republicans who are getting an earful from their constituents are ready to deal. Read this for the machinations going on around this vote. If the GOP just gives in without getting things like no $0 premiums I'm going to be super pissed. Just saying.

HOW DID A SEXUAL PREDATOR GET HIRED AT ANOTHER SCHOOL? We must have systems in place to prevent someone who has been investigated and fired from a school district for inappropriate behavior with students from getting another job. Sending them to jail would be a great way to do that, but this guy didn't get charged, he just got fired from the St. Vrain School District, only to be hired by the Jefferson County School District right after. Now Patricio Illanes has been charged with all sorts of things including using kids in front of green screens to make porn videos. St. Vrain says even if JeffCo asked about the investigation, which they didn't, regulations would have prevented them from sharing the information. That has to change.

THIS WOMAN THINKS HER DOG IS ACTUALLY A CHILD This is sort of funny when you realize that being able to claim a child is to incentivize people having kids, which most of the time is a net benefit and necessary to society's flourishing. You owning a dog is not. But that's not stopping this dame. Watch below or click here.

THE CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING IS NO MORE And it remains to be seen what the long term effects of the cancellation of government support for Public radio and tv will be, but my first instincts are the will find a way to compete. If they can't compete without my taxpayer dollars they don't deserve to continue. It has always irked the hell out of me that I have to compete with something that is getting my tax dollars.

AURORA VOTED FOR FEELINGS INSTEAD OF GOOD GOVERNANCE And this is a great column about it.

I HOPE MAMDANI GETS HIS WAY Because this is his choice to be charge of housing in New York, who says that she wants to reduce the value of housing in New York City. I can't wait for them to succeed in preventing New Yorkers from gaining wealth the way most of us gain wealth, which is through home ownership. Watch this.

To be clear, "municipalize" means the city takes it.

MOST PEOPLE REGAIN THE WEIGHT THEY LOSE WITH GLP-1S And not slowly, they regain the weight very quickly. So if you don't want to be on shots for life, you may want to relearn how to take care of yourself from SOTA. Just saying. Read the sad story about weight regain here. Read this line:

Weight returned around four times faster than in people who slimmed down through diet and exercise alone.

You have to change all your habits permanently. Period. I know it's hard, most things worth doing are.
