The 2026 Oscar nominees have been unveiled, and several Black stars earned nods.
Leading the pack is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, which made history with a record-breaking 16 Oscar nominations, surpassing the previous high of 14 shared by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land. The film earned nods for Best Picture, Best Actor (Michael B. Jordan), Supporting Actress (Wunmi Mosaku), Supporting Actor (Delroy Lindo), as well as Director and Original Screenplay for Coogler, in addition to a strong showing across music, technical, and craft categories, including Original Song for “I Lied To You.”
Sinners costume designer Ruth E. Carter also became the most-nominated Black woman in Oscars history, recording her fifth Academy Award nomination for her work in the film.
Close behind Coogler's film is Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which secured 13 nominations. Teyana Taylor, who stars in the project and won her first Golden Globe earlier this month, also earned an Oscar nomination for Actress In A Supporting Role.
The 98th Oscars will air live Sunday, March 15, 2026, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on ABC, with Conan O’Brien returning as host.
