Millions Across The East Targeted By Severe Storms

Severe storms are impacting millions across the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley today (Wednesday, May 27), with heavy rain and potentially damaging wind gusts posing significant threats. A level two out of five severe storm risk is in place for major cities like Washington, D.C., Richmond, and Norfolk.

The severe weather follows a night of heavy rain across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, where flash flood risks remain. NBC News reports that areas like Kansas City, Missouri, saw a month's worth of rain in a few hours, leading to high-water rescues.

As the week progresses, the weather is expected to dry out by Thursday and Friday in the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley, while the Southeast continues to face increased flood risks.
