A 22-year-old man from Wayne, New Jersey, has been arrested for allegedly plotting a terror attack in support of ISIS. Mohamed Sagha was charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS) from December 2025 to June 2026. According to the FBI, Sagha used online chat rooms to discuss potential attacks on U.S. targets, including Jewish places of worship and National Guard sites, with someone he believed was a fellow ISIS supporter. However, he was actually communicating with an FBI Counterterrorism Unit member.

Sagha allegedly expressed interest in helping another ISIS supporter carry out an attack and even considered conducting one himself. He shared images and videos of potential targets near his Wayne residence. Authorities said Sagha also attempted to travel to ISIS-controlled territory in March 2026 but was unsuccessful. Between May 31 and June 2, Sagha discussed VPN technology with the confidential source and purchased a VPN to help conceal online activities.

U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer stated, "Those who seek to advance the objectives of foreign terrorist organizations should expect a swift and coordinated response from federal law enforcement." If convicted, Sagha faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime term of supervised release. The investigation involved the FBI Newark Division, the New York City Police Department, and the Wayne Police Department. Sagha is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
